Drivetrain FIREBALLED! RACING - The "PROJECT" formerly known as "MARY"
I will post the graph as soon as we get it uploaded to the server. we could have made more power but then that is another story.
Having some fun.....
Project "M" has been progressing on schedule, but making power in small increments is something we are just not used to and not much fun at all.
So......we decided to take a break and change the pace a little.
Brian has been great in allowing us to use his personal ride as a test mule, but his one and only request has been the most difficult - "do whatever it takes" he said...."but don't leave any fingerprints!
"
Try making ridiculous power without making a mess and you will understand.....
After a quick underhood check to make sure all components are present and accounted for...(the tough life of a project car), we are off to the dyno. The only major issue has been trying to find a streetable clutch capable of holding all the power.
Once on the dyno, we did a few test runs at different boost levels to check if the clutch was up to the task. It performed much better than what was previously tested, but unfortunately, it still was slipping at higher boost levels. We were disappointed and frustrated since the manufacturer claimed the unit was capable of supporting the power levels we needed. But being that we are at the forefront of power development, we also bear the burden of testing and verifying products.
Brian was able to massage the clutch and I dialed the power back a bit and we were able to put down a respectable number considering that we left a lot on the table. But that's the fun part of tuning. There is always more to extract. Keeing that expectation in mind will ease of pain of having to swap clutches once again...

Here are a couple of older pix. I havent gotten any good ones since we added some color and did a little more polishing. The pic in my sig is the current setup. I will try and get a couple better pix next week and post them.
Bob, yes I still drive it every day to work unless I need to drive a different vehicle to haul something or someone
Oh and yeah there was a touch of the gas in there.

thank you! most parts were either painted black or powder coated black such as the motor, the motor mounts and we had the engine bay and strut towers re sprayed gloss black also. Everything else is braided, polished or anodized.
Isn't it funny how Hubie has better pix of my car than I do!!
Brian -
Congrats on the new HP number!! You are going have to start using racing clutches to deal with that kind of power and torque.
Easy. You go out to lunch or to chase some parts and Hubie gets out his camera...

Brian,
"Poiple" is a good color, and complements the rest of the engine bay
.
With the new tweaks and no addition of nitrous, what would be the whp/torque values? I remember something like 412 whp a while back, but I believe that was before the current adjustments.
Thanks, and I hope to see ya' on the road soon...

Nope, not with the battery box and the slope of the hood. The slope of the cooper hood is much steeper than it seems and there is little room under there!
