Bait and Switch??? I went to the MiniMania website today and their "tickler" about the ECU plug-and-play device is now gone, but there is a listing for an ECU remap that runs about $700 for the MCS... that's pretty much market for an untested product. Guess I'm going to look elsewhere now...

I just found out that this is now available from Turner Motorsport. Here's the item:
Shark and Pulley

I don't have any first hand experience with it but it's from Conforti and Turner - can't knock that.

Nice find. I find it very interesting that this has been around since the beginning of this year (a "best seller" to boot) and yet I've seen no mention of it on this board. As you mention, both names are gold in the BMW world, so what gives?

OOoops. Problem coming in on page 2 is that you miss much! How is it that the Turner site suggests that they've had the MCS Shark injector since last Dec and yet it wasn't available as of June of this year?

We've had the software since December, just not in Shark Injector form. You had to send your ECU in. Now its in a DIY unit.

Ohhhh, I hope we see more reviews on this. the price is finally getting where it should be for an ECU upgrade. I hope Randy or others can verify the HP gain.

I would agree, I had a friend of mine do a "software" remap of my Corvettes
ECU. I did notice a small delta performance +, but it was tiny. I was told
dyno was about +7~+9Hp, nothing exciting.

BUT... Maybe I'm pipedreaming. Could this perhaps fix the glorious stumble
and hard cold-starts?

surprised this announcement hasn't gotten that much attention. It seemed that 6 months ago when evotech came out with their ecu so many people were holding out for the shark. Word on the street is that some orders were shipped yesterday from turner to the first batch of shark owners. Can't wait for some feedback.

We are a stocking dealer for these. 91 and 93 Octane. See dyno chart on our site. $399 is for real. I'm shipping all of our orders this Friday. -Pete, Stratmosphere

Very good news. Any word when the Cooper (non-supercharged) version will be available?

Thanks.

Am I missing something or are those dyno charts useless. They just show an MCS with software, software + pulley, and software + puelly & exhaust. Where's the head to head software versus no software runs?

Ok I am just a bit confused so bear with me. If I was to get this shark, then it really doesn't matter what other mods I have? For instance I have no pulley upgrade yet, so would the program change once I got this mod? Would I have to send it back then? Thanks guys!

Very good question. It would seem that their program is just very generic and will provide some benefit no matter what your mods. If this is the case and it is not specific, I wouldn't bother.

Next week I'll do a dyno pull on a car that has a pulley and airbox. Shark and no-Shark. Some major issues to think about: If you have a pulley without software, you are running lean. That's not good. Also, if you have 93 Octane available, now you can take advantage of that energy. This is no different that a re-chip except there is no soldering, no visiting a shop and always you are able to return the car to stock programming prior to dealer visits.

Oh, non-S work is next. We will see if there is enough benefit. Without a doubt, at the least a 93-octane version would work. More as that develops later. -Pete, Stratmosphere

Turner states: " rev limit by 200 and removes the top speed limiter" this is the first I've heard of the top speed limiter being taken out even without the upgrade that woudl be nice to have, granted there is no reason I should ever have to go that fast, but I hate the idea it is there in the first place. I wonder if they cn put oen of these otu for the cvt?!

This is bad information. I'm not sure why people keep posting erroneous information like this...

A stock S with the pulley runs only SLIGHTLY LEANER than stock - NOT, I repeat, NOT LEAN WHATSOEVER!!!! According to the air/fuel graphs which have been posted on this site, an S with a pulley and stock software still runs very, very rich (not lean!) so there is no potential for harm by running lean. If you still think otherwise, please show me your evidence or please don't post false statements.
