Hey, I might be going on Saturday. Any one else? Long range forecast has Friday as being iffy.

I just finished watching the WGI. Was that you helping Liam out of the car? The video clearly shows what is done for him at the driver change. Pretty impressive Sorry to see the brake issues the team had.

Should we look for you at the team trailer, then?

Haven't watched it.....but yeah, that was me.

Yup.....I'll be at the trailer! Freedom has the first three pit stalls after entering pit road.

Good to see you there and congratulations to the Freedom team. 1 and 2 on the podium. It was fun to see them running in a pack and sounding like a bunch of angry bees.

BTW - I see that you have changed your signature. I had hoped to have you come back and do track days with us. Hmmmm - a Gen I GP maybe?

That might be like running one of those Mazda spec racers; maybe almost as fast. We had a good electric go kart track here but it went under. So now nothing close. Well, if you are in the mood for a bit of a ride, some of will be at LRP on Saturday.

Hey, LRP with the Patroons last Saturday was really great. Nice to see GKP there and my cousin was there with his nice blue M2. The day was about perfect and I had a really good instructor for the first session. I guess some of the other instructors were a bit Meh...

For once no brake issues on my car other than a bit of backend squirrelliness when trail braking into Big Bend. Next test of the brakes will be a 2 day event at WGI at the end of this month. I ran the Hawk DTC60 pads with new slotted rotors up front and Hawk Blues with slotted rotors in the rear. And I added a bit more brake venting up front. For WGI I plan to switch out the Blues for DTC60s in the rear for more temperature range mostly as they both have about the same bite, at least until until the Blues run out of temperature range.

It was a fun day all-around with great weather. I was a tad rusty in the seat since it was my first track day of the year (I even missed a few shifts!) but always fun. The Patroons run a solid day. As for Eddie07S ... man, can he fit a lot of stuff into that MINI!

you are able to get your rears hot? No easy way to adjust bias on mini, I cannot get my rears hot enough to use real track pads, so I use hawk HP+ back there instead

I think that won't be a problem, especially at Watkins Glen, and the fact I burned the paint off them the first time I went there. According to the Hawk literature (https://www.tirerack.com/images/pdf/...und-Charts.pdf) the Blues and and the DTC60s have similar Mu vs temp curves at low temps, with the Blues having a slight advantage up to about 250 deg where the curves cross and above which the DTC60s are better. I actually think that I am running out of the temperature range of the Blues at the high temp end of their range. I keep forgetting to put some temperature sensitive paint on the rotors to see where they are actually at. Hopefully I'll remember at this next event.

Anyone planning on going to LRP for SCDA's event next Monday, August 14th? I'm currently on the waitlist for INT 2.

Hey, veggi - gkp and I were talking about you when we met up at LRP and wondering what you were up to. I guess we now we know. Hope they find some room for you. Myself, I'll be working and getting ready for WGI. Let us know how you make out.

On that note, can I get some interest going for the Patroons BMWCCA track day at Palmer in early October?

I'll let you know how the day goes, if I make the cut. Have fun @ WGI. Haven't been to Palmer yet; what's the scoop on that track so far?

I've been looking at the new Toyo offering in the RComp tire department; the R888R. These are a 100 wear rated tire and are less expensive than the Bridgestone RE71Rs. Does anyone know anything about these new Toyos?

I have heard that it is a fun track but you don't want to run off the track as the the rough stone walls are very unforgiving. They also don't have much in facilities. It has a lot of elevation change (more than WGI, I think) and the track can be run in either direction, although it's normal direction is counterclockwise (opposite that of LRP). Going there with Patroons will be good for me as all of the run groups get instructors and for my first time there I'd like an instructor in my car. And it is less expensive than LRP with a 2 day event being only a little more than a LRP one day event.

I'll be there. Running with the Patroons inspired me to go out again.

Going to Track Night in America at Thompson on the 29th. Only $125.00 for 3 20 min sessions. Not a bad deal and also starts at 3 pm so only 1/2 day off of work.

That's a heck of a deal. It's $360 for 4 - 20 min sessions at LRP. For me, it is almost a 4 hr drive away. Hope you have a great day.

Hey, did anyone go to LRP on Monday? How was it?

Also, I am looking for anyone interest in joining me at WGI late in Sept. This is a 2 day event with GVC on the weekend. As good as Patroons did at LRP, GVC runs an even better event. A great group of people, great instructors. That should set you up really well for Palmer 2 weeks later.

I was at LRP on 8/14 and what a day it was! In the third session I was at the end of the straightaway when something slammed my windshield. At first I thought it was a bird but then realized from the sound it was something hard, probably metal. A miracle my windshield didn't shatter. After the session I saw there were four gouges in my hood and gouges in the windshield. What was it? See pic:

But all's well that ends well. The driver of the car in front of me is covering the damage. Shows once again that SCDA is a good group to run with.

Jeez! Now they're going to have to check that all tow hooks are secure at tech. This could have been so much worse: shattered windshield and who knows what follows that. Glad it is minor damage and will be covered by the driver of the offending vehicle.

I've heard they are recommending cloth tow points now too, less mass to come off and if they break when you are being towed they just tear instead of snapping and going flying
