You lost to a civic, dude:lol:

mdsbrain Aug 24, 2005 06:48 AM

What happened? Did you have the DSC on?:impatient I think with some practice you can smoke that civic:thumbsup:

To think I was there just minutes after that run:sad: .

camelpilot Aug 24, 2005 07:06 AM

Oh yeah, thats a lot better, although you still need to work on the vid, because it looked alll shrunk up. Did you film in 16:9?

As for you race, it was pretty cool. It's ok to lose to that Civic, because that guy was pretty fast, even for a street Civic, he has probably had more experience 1/4 miling than you, and definitely knows his Civic better than you know your MINI, but thats to be expected, he has probably owned it over 10 years now. Good race man, but you can definitely beat him.

Maximusmini Aug 24, 2005 12:43 PM

While old hatchback civics can be mean, i bet he has a wild setup. It takes practice.. Just keep going out to poractice when you can, sooner or later you will perfect your Reaction Times, and also shift smoothly. It takes a while to finess everything out.. Good Job

kaelaria Aug 24, 2005 01:09 PM

I wouldn't call a Civic running what looks to be a 13's run 'wild' ;)

chows4us Aug 24, 2005 02:49 PM

OK, Im lost

Isn't drag racing and MINI like an oxymoron? Where are the twisties?

Not a bad run. What was your trap speed? Any mods?

SuprCooperS Aug 24, 2005 03:30 PM

thanks

well it was my first run, and i have a 15%, a shark injector ecu, k&n typhoon, and densos, the usual stuff, exhaust hopefully coming at the end of the next month, but i appreciate all the positive input from you guys

meanboy Aug 24, 2005 04:01 PM

It's a good run. What was the weather like and do you remember your trap speed?

Mugami Aug 25, 2005 02:25 AM

Looked like a good run to me. Civic did a 14.72 you were within a tenth. IF you have an 04 or earlier. Its about right according to the announcer. The Civic normally will Take a Mini by half a fender off the line then we play catch-up This is all due to the Mini's Tall first gear and CR gearbox. An 05 with the revised Gearbox doesn't have this problem.

SuprCooperS Aug 25, 2005 07:44 PM

trap speed

My trap speed was 96.18mph and it had rained previously, they had just dried the track, and then it rained again, otherwise there would be more than one run on my video. The temp was like 75 degrees which i felt was a good temp for the supercharger to perform well. If anybody has any ideas how to improve my time, please tell me, I am investing in some new 17's with Spec 2 tires, b/c the run flats just are not cutting it, and I found some rims i really like. BTW I filmed in 16:9 b/c i got a new plasma widescreen and I wanted the best picturepossible on it.

1FSTMINI Aug 26, 2005 04:58 AM

 Where the hell were you guys racing to , the sand traps at the end?

Wow that track looks old n ghetto.

SuprCooperS Aug 26, 2005 09:51 AM

Sorry

Would Drag Radials help reduce your et?? A perfect 96mph (probably rwd) should be a 13.8 with a 1.89 60ft I presume yours was a 2.4ish??
I would personally work on the 60ft time as this will reduce your et more than anything else, good luck.

Great video and great to see you doing something on a track.

1FSTMINI Aug 27, 2005 06:07 PM

Yea.....id get some tire if u want a better jump....also practice launchin ur car ALOT n ull get it down. Sometimes burnin the tires isnt bad if you hold it just right as you get momentum.

SuprCooperS Aug 28, 2005 02:00 PM

2.4 was my 60' time, and i hope i can get some good tires soon

trbokix Feb 17, 2006 06:03 PM

I hope you have done some mods since this video! I got beat by a hatch back civic and told myself "never again" since then I have spent roughly $5k in mods but haven't lost to another civic yet!
