Shiny d'Mini - THANKS DP
 

Last Saturday, I washed, dried, clayed, polished with DP Finish, then DP Amigo, waxed with DP Epic, and Neroed the plastic and the tires. I resisted driving the rest of the day and put a 2nd coat of Epic on Sunday morning before church. I am very satisfied with the results. Even with a week's worth of dust and pollen, he looks good, IMHO.

In the 3rd pic, right behind the back window, on the corner of the top, you can see a whitish area. This is where I got polish on the top, before I figured out that I needed to mask it too (not just the plastic :mad:). Anybody know how to remove this stuff from the top?

I'm envious because I'm DYING for warm weather to use my new PC Buffer from DP along with my new line of products... Swirl, Finish, Epic, etc, etc, etc.

Can't help you with the ragtop question, davavd, but if I may make just one small recommendation: Put some sauce on those sidewalls to give your MINI that final touch. :nod:

did you do this all by hand or did you use a PC?

i also don't know about how to fix the top, but i'm sure Heather at DP or MiniMaybee will know.

p.s. - those metallic edges on your stripes are nice!

I used DP's Nero - I'm not a fan of the "shiny tire" look :grin:. Just doesn't look right to me. :no:

I'm talking they look gray instead of black. Maybe it's just the photos.

Otherwise, like I said and others have said, the MINI looks great... can't even tell it was ever in a serious accident ! :thumbsup:

Are you sure you put Nero on the tires?? :wink: :razz: Maybe it's just the way the photo shows it, but even the super-matte Nero adds more darkening to tires than the photo shows. ??? Now I'm the inquiring mind... :nod: :)


As for your top residue, I would start by mixing some warm water with a squirt or two (lots) of Dawn and gently brush with a wee brush like an old toothbrush. And/or try 303 Convertible Top Cleaner. It's been on there for awhile, so it will likely take a few tries and probably multiple approaches.

Most importantly, I would try the Dawn/water sooner than later. The longer wax dries on any surface, the more it's curing onto that surface. As a rule, you want to remove any synthetic wax and/or any polish from tops ASAP.

If it's just Prima Finish, which is water-based, it'll come right now. With the others, it's likely to be a bit stubborn.

I usually wax with the top down. Less chance to space-out and fling product onto the top. If Heather's Dawn suggestion doesn't work, try the 303 Fabric Cleaner. I always use it before I re-waterproof the canvas and it is really powerful, but safe. Also you might try some vinegar or alcohol. Whatever you try, you will need to waterproof that spot again so again, I use 303 Fabric Guard. It is a hand spray so you can focus the application to the spot needed. Let us know what does the trick.

BTW, your BRG really shows off the wetness of Epic - looks very nice! Did you use a PC or your hand?

I guess it might have been the photo - it was very bright out. They do look black in reality, but maybe they can be blacker? Anyway, I am going to re-treat with Nero again this weekend. Anything I need to do before I re-treat?

I will go with the 303 suggestion Heather posted. I bought a bottle and have thrown everything at it (road salt bleached carpet, dog stains, mold on the shower...) it handled everything but is really gentle on it. If that fails, try a dedicated soft top cleaner like Ragg Top from DP. :thumbsup:

Your car would look good with driving lights and 20" rims! maybe a hydrolic system that makes the car jump up and down....and with neon lights under the body....man...that would be so kickin':thumbsup:
