Anyone try Griot's Carnauba Wax Paste?
 

I see a million references and helpful references at that to Griot's Best in Show liquid.

Anyone try the paste carnauba from Griot's instead?

I have not, but been tempted to. I use Best of Show because I can put it on with the orbital. I was going to see what your results were. :)

I've been meaning to try that as well.

I have not either, I have used the Best In Show before and was not real crazy about it. Just did not come off easy....it was probably opperater error, not dry enough.

I am a big paste fan but only have used Mothers (the big tin) for 10+ years.

If you do use it please let us know what you think.

I had the same problem at first. Turns out i was using WAY to much! Once i got at fixed, it works great!

I suspected that I might be the first person in this current set of people to use it. I have the tub sitting next to me. I got it because the rest of the system for hand polishing and speed shining just appears to be a perfect thing. then the carnauba is 30% in it, so really, can't go wrong with that.

best of show is 24% carnauba I was told just now by griot's.

I didnt know it was pronounced: GREE-ohts.

Guy said to make sure I put on a light coat. I guess that is a good warning if you are using a higher end paste with lots of carnauba in it.

Anyone ever do the hand/no applicator thing? I would think that you would royally mess up your skin by the time you were done. However, the wax is so intense in it, maybe it wouldnt.

now all i need is freakin car. with lasers on their heads.

I've yet to apply by hand cause my waxes are liquid enough to spread without body heat.

Greeoh :lol: recommends you heat that wax in the microwave before use.

I dont even own a microwave. I'm a natural kinda of guy.

If it happens again, use speed shine when you are trying to get the wax off, it really helps. :grin:

You can use speed shine or just water to get it off. Once cured comletely (after 24hr or so), you can only use speed shine to remove the excess unless you use elbow grease.

I was amazed how their Spray On wax did not remove the Best of Show even with moderate pressure. :)

this is good info. I bought extra speedshine. Apparently this stuff rox for just about everything on a daily basis.

I have now total 163 ounces of speedshine. 35+1 gallon.

cleans off bird poop, daily detail, lubricant for the claybar, and now i can use it to remove excess wax from the car.

I wonder if i should go get Meguiar's soap in the gallon size or use theirs. theirs costs like 35+ dollars plus shipping. Kinda pricey. I wonder though if it is forumulated to be more gentle with their wax. eh i duno.

I like their wash, and Speed Shine is a god-send. Hubby and I go through roughly a 35 ounce bottle in the course of a week or two. I'm about to have a go with Best of Show today though. The last time I waxed I used the Turtle ICE and was underwhelmed. So tonight I'm stripping it all off and starting over with the Best of Show. If THAT doesn't work, I'm going back to paste, as I've never had a problem with paste waxes and I'm suspecting maybe I just don't know what the heck I'm doing with the liquids :)

I too like there car wash. I am not sure how it compares to Meg. wash, but I do not seem to go though a whole lot. I think you have to use less per gallon than Meg, I could be wrong.

the Griot's car shampoo is like heaven... super lubricity, very nice scent.
i use that only on my weekend cars to pamper them.

the Meguiar's GoldClass shampoo is very good and that's wat i use on my
commuters. :) just make sure to put 1oz per gallon don't go cheap.

I buy the 1/2gallon + size. their smaller bottle (15oz?) will only do you like
3 washes with a 5+ gallon bucket.

i also found out that the cap that comes on those large re-fill laundry
detergents are 6oz to the brim. perfect to measure my car shampoo! :grin:

Hm, is the meguiars more caustic on the wax?

Also, what is the soap to water ratio of either of them?

price difference might be less of a factor then. If the griot's eats less wax, thats a really huge factor as it keeps the car protected longer.

if eating up wax isnt an issue then steer me right?

soap to water ratio is 1oz for every gallon on both.

GoldClass has not eaten through my Best of Show yet. :)
car's gone though about 12 rain storms, 6-7 car washes and
still beading water like i waxed it yesterday. :thumbsup:

i do reinforce the wax with SprayOn wax after each wash.
hood, roof, trunk lid only.

hm. Does speedshine have wax in it? I was planning on doign that after every wash.

I think it does. I Speed Shine after I wash and sometimes to touch up in between washings as well.

speedshine does seem to have wax.. it super enhanced my NXT.

but if you're going to do mist and wipe after each wash, use the
SprayOn wax. it's a real nice product too. :razz:

Got a gal of Mcquires Gold Class at Costco for about $8....works well and is gentle and slippery....I spend enough on detailing and this is better than average....I am over the edge with this mini now!

now that's a super deal! :eek: usually i can only find them in 1/2 gallon
for like $9.

Well, I am not going to buy YET another griot's product. I do believe that it would be a good one to get, however, it just cant stock up on yet another one. Anyone want to see what I bought? And I am not a well off person at all mind you. I just want to protect my investment realistically. (with a bit of flare as well I guess)

Set of blue foam applicator pads for vinyl/rubbering

Now that is a lot of crap to have. I figured the majority of usage would be out of the speedshine so I got a lot of that.
