Cleaning my R99's
OK after washing them a few times my fingers hurt... is there any better way to clean these rims? I constantly have a sore finger and I miss a few spots here and there.... Is there a tool or anythign people use to clean their R99's? or some tips on how to not miss spots?

at least they look easier than the R90s, or X-lites (V-Spokes).

wheel brush baby:thumbsup:

Girot's Garage sells a wide range of wheel brushes to fit nearly every application. Well worth the money.

Wheel brush and the Mr. Clean Cleaning System. It's the bomb for cleaning your mini, in mere minutes!

Use what I use. Either a good wheel brush with FLAGGED bristles (The Viking brand is better than the new Meguiars one) ...or this...which works fantastic. You can even get the inside and behind the spokes. https://www.fototime.com/6B95C7DCB96F4FA/standard.jpg

Plus, after a good scrub, use some wheel wax to cut down on rinse time in the future!

Put one of these on the end of your cordless drill. A little water and a little wheel cleaner and bang. Done. Works great. Well, your neighbors will think you've lost your mind, but what do they know!?

I use what Brad recommended as well (because Brad knows!), I love it and it's only a buck and a quarter

The most important factor though in keeping your wheels clean is to do everything you can to prevent them form getting dirty in the first place:smile:
If you haven't changed your brake pads yet to the Green ones do so as soon as possible, it's amazing how much those things reduce the amount of dirt and grim build up on the wheels. Next polish the wheels the way you polish your car, doing this will making cleaning and washing each time a real breeze because it doesn't allow dirt to stick to the finish. The dirt that is there wipes up really easily, I use a wash mit reserved just for doing the wheels. I have both a set of white OZ Cronos and R90's and they both are spotless most of the time. Clean up takes all of about 10 minutes. |
I have the same R99s and I clean them lightly. I kind of light when they're lightly covered in brakedust and slightly darker.

I would highly recommend meguire's wheel spoke brush...it really folds and gets inside small areas like between your spokes with no effort at all. I use it on my X-lites and even in the small X-openings, it will go all the way back underneath the brake caliper..that's only like a half inch opening. :)
