I was rather skeptical of the peanut butter technique until today. This morning I noticed areas of wax residue as well as a cosmoline drip down the right front wheel arch. Tried rubbing alcohol with marginal results. Then decided to use peanut butter and damn it works! Cosmoline is gone as well as the wax residue.

My new to me 2012 had some wax residue on the textured black bits. This weekend I tried a nice new soft toothbrush with rubbing alcohol. It worked extremely well on the areas that I suspect were newer wax spots. A few areas it didn't get rid of the haze. So I tried peanut oil on those areas and it worked really well.

So I'm new to the boards and wanted to ask if anyone else has seen this stuff coming out of drain holes throughout their MINI? I've seen it under the hood in crevices, and in places around doors. The areas under the hood seem to warm up after a drive, and can be wiped with a damp rag. At first I thought it was bugs that were trapped or hiding, and we're getting cooked in the engine bay. It's a mix between tree sap and a wax substance. The front fender trims started to show signs of a drip from under the hood crevice.
