I have an 05 Mini base and the things that hold the trunk open are shot. The trunk doesn't stay open. Has anyone replaces the trunk struts ( I think thats what they are called)? Did you do it your self? And if you did it your self where did you buy them. Thanks!

 

I have not done hatch struts on the MINI but have on a few other cars.
Normally they are not very hard, just a few clips.

It could be one or both struts going at the same time. If one goes it will fall like they are both gone. I have replaced both at once when I had to do struts because my thought is the other one probably is not far behind the failing strut.

Check with your local auto parts store for a replacement, they should be able to offer a good price. There is noting special about the MINI struts so no need to go to the dealer.
