Detailer's Domain: 11 BMW M3 - New Car Prep - Aquartz Coating
 

Not as bad as some of the new car preps we have been getting.

We did the routine clean up and used Aquartz Nano Coating to give it a great long lasting shine.

What was done -
Exterior

- Wheels were prepped with Sonax Wheel Cleaner and cleaned up with various brushes
- Tires were spritzed down with Adam’s All Purpose Cleaner and washed down
- Wheel wells were cleaned up
- Pre Washed with W99
- Wash down and rinsed
- Door jambs were cleaned up
- Clayed
- Dried
- Tires dressed
- Masking
- 1 Step Menzerna Super Finish
- Inspection with Fenix,Infratech, and natural sunlight
- Last Step – Aquartz Nano Coating
- Wheel wells were cleaned and dressed
- Rubber and Plastics Treated
- Exterior windows and mirrors cleaned and sealed
- Exhaust tips cleaned
- Windows were clayed, cleaned, and sealed

Interior
- Wipe down
- Vac
- Leather treatment
- Glass cleaned

I always take a look at the amazing work that you do and I am very impressed. Today I helped out an older friend at work who wanted his Hyundai detailed and could not find someone he trusted locally so I agreed I would help him out. He dropped it off this morning and 6 hours later I handed it back to him. Without a random orbital polisher it was a bit of work and my results were not up to par with yours in regards to paint finish but the car did look nice for the wear and tear it had on it for an 80K mile car.

After my time spent today I wondered about how long it takes you on average to completely detail a car? And if you typically do it yourself or if you have a crew that does the work at the same time?

thanks! on average I would say we spend about 6-14 hours per car depending on what it needs and what the customer wants to achieve.

I do have a crew as you can see in the pictures but there are definitely times I go solo.

If you are into this for fun or for a side gig I would recommend picking up an orbital polisher.

Agreed. I have spent some time on your web site and honestly come close to purchasing the Porter Cable unit but recently there have been other, more pressing needs that I have had to take care of. But there is no doubt in my mind that I will own one, though at the earliest probably not until the spring.

I do enjoy taking a car that looks tired and bringing it back to as close to its former glory as possible, but I do not see me doing it as a side gig. I would have to clear the to do list of a larger number of items before I got to the point where I had the time to do it.
