I tried using one years ago to remove some stains from the original paint on my 69 Chevelle.....didn't work. When talking of using a clay bar on a new paint job, how and why would you do this and what does it accomplish?

Thanks,

R.E.

I swear by this stuff. I use Mothers brand. I found it works the best. I have a PW MCS, and it works great pulling off the black dots and acid rain spots without removing the paint. As you know, the Mini gets very dirty in the rear hatch/bumper area because of it's design. Here is a hyperlink to the product. I buy mine at the local auto parts store.

Just clay barred for the first time today. My MC is only 2 months old. It did make the car feel like glass. But I must say that all of the impurities that were imbedded in the paint did not come off. The back of the car gets really dirty and has some rust-colored really small specks that did not come off with the clay bar. It's supposed to remove all sort of crud that gets on the paint. I used it as one of the pre-steps to Zaino my MC. All and all I think that it did help...but not as much as I wanted.

Yeppers, clay bars are great for removing big junk on your paint. Just be sure to use lots of lube!

do they sell the mothers without the lube? I have like 5 bottles of lube laying around and would prefer to pay like 10$ without it?

We do sell the clay by itself, but not at the retail level.

If you'll e-mail me direct, I'll line you up with some sources.
