GRRRRR. I missed what is likely to be the last warm-enough-to-wax day of the season because someone managed to leave a sizable area of white paint on my red paint, just behind the fuel fill door. Maybe half a square inch total area. There doesn't appear to be a scratch at all, or harm to the surface below, but the paint won't just rub off. Any suggestions? I've poked around in this forum and couldn't find info on this.

What sucks is that I am the most careful, anal parker in the world, and I think this somehow happened while I was parallel parked on my street! :mad:

Any "scratch remover" polish formula will do the trick. The product we carry for this kind of work is P21S Multi-Finish Restorer: http://www.nacarcare.com/p21-150.html. Locally, you might be able to find Meguiar's ScratchX or Eagle One Scratch Remover.

Thanks, davidb - I think I actually have a similar product at home. I'll check it out tonight. Do I have to worry about damaging my clearcoat? Should I just be as careful as possible?

Normally when you get surface paint transfer, the paint transferred to your car is much softer and will buff off pretty easily. You'd have to do a lot of rubbing to remove a measurable amount of clear coat.

Thanks again, guys. I used a product called Kit (brand) Scratch Off, and it worked fantastically! It's very nonabrasive stuff; I really had to put some pressure into it to get the last few bits of white paint off, and my clearcoat didn't suffer a bit. :smile:
