NEW at Detailers Paradise: The Starfish Buffing Mitt

This is my new favorite toy...

A buffing cloth you can stick your hand into! I often become frustrated when my buffing cloth unfolds as I buff with it (I usually fold it into quarters). With this buffing mitt, that problem is solved!

Here a link to a full description:
The Starfish

$8.95 each or 3/$22.95\

Enjoy!

Is it Monster Fluffy? Because if it is, it will make my Monster Fluffys *almost* obsolete...

It says it's like sticking your hand into a flonster muffy.

and what have the "test" subjects reported? in regards to use over a MF?

The reason why I ask is, the MF appears to have more usable space when QDing. Would they match up 1-1 in doing a MINI?

You are the first ever to order the new Starfish! See, you can no longer deny your new OCD car care obession.

Of course, you'll have to let everyone know what you think after you give it a try. I love it, but as always, to each his own... so I like to hear multiple opinions of new stuff.

Thanks for the order!

Hmm.. tempting. My birthday's coming up (as well as my MINI's 1st birthday!!) so I may have to add another item to my wishlist.

Will you have any of these available for demo at MITM?

No, technically it is not made from a Monster Fluffy. However, it is nice and soft and quite plush, so it is "like" sticking your hand into a Monster Fluffy.

A traditionally sized, non-mitt style MF cloth does have more surface area for sure. To me though, the convenience of the mitt format outweighs that fact. I think ultimately it's a matter of preference.

Worthy of note is that the mitt can be turned inside out too. It's the same plushness on both the outside and the inside.

Hmmm... I actually hadn't thought about that yet. At this point I would say perhaps but not definitely. It will depend on inventory levels at that date.

Wooooooooo... If it's nearly as soft as the MF, I can think of many uses for something like THAT !!!

(get your minds out of the gutter, even if mine is in there with you).

Okay, Heather... is that nearly as soft and thick as your Monster Fluffy ? Or is it thinner as it appears ?

Not that it will deter me from buying... just might deter me from buying a dozen.

Those with sweaty palms or greasy fingers might want to reconsider.

Actually one advantage that comes to mind with a mitt like this is: Being able to keep the MF from touching the ground as you QD the lower door and potentially the paint on your aero kit skirts.

Let's put it this way... although each side individually isn't as thick as a Monster Fluffy, if you lay the Starfish and the Monster next to each other, they are the same thickness. In other words, if you didn't stick your hand into it and essentially used it as a non-mitt cloth, it would be the same as using the Monster Fluffy. Another way to put it would be that if we sewed the mitt closed then it would essentially an odd-shapped, blue Monster Fluffy. Does that make sense or am I making it more confusing?

Both good points!

The thread length is the same as the Monster Fluffy; thus, a little longer than the Platinum.

Oh man, another 'must have'

Heather, if I place an order today do you think I'd have it by Friday? Leaving for Denver on Saturday and can't stand the thought of new stuff just waiting for me in a box at home.

Oh wait.... never mind.... guess I could just come on in while I'm in town! Guess I'll be see'in ya in a week or so!

(BTW, may be meeting up Thurs am at DP for the MITM caravan too)

Seems convenient, but you lose the benefit of a twice-folded detailing cloth that is the soft cushion between your hand and the finish.

I think the best way to use this would be to not put your hand inside of it, but on top of it. That way you keep some cushion while not worrying about it unfolding.

Thanks, Heather. Yes, that made perfect sense. In fact, you could have stopped after the word I bolded and it would have been just as clear.

Sorry I disagree. The BEST WAY is to have TWO Mitts. You wear one mitt, and put the second over the first--assuming it fits--for double cushion! Or maybe line the inside with a Monster Fluffy for that extra cushion. Hmm, for that matter, I'm thinking of a lining the inside with a sheet of sponge rubber folded in half so my finger tips push against the foam rubber which pushes against the MF.

Again, maybe once I use it, I'll realize it was all for not.

Every tool has its purpose. I can see the benefits of this tool. I use a similar though less cushy one for cleaning and detailing wheels. Allows me to reach the insides of the wheels and rotors in the same way I'd use my hand.

Good thing for us that Heather has a good sense of humor. Otherwise, she might revoke our shopping privileges !
