VERY short, because I only bought it yesterday and used it very quickly today to clean a few spots of bug poo and tire gel that had flung.

This stuff came out a couple of months ago, and I'd had an eye out for it after reading reviews, but hadn't come across it til yesterday when I went to Mega Wally World to pick up a pair of wheel chocks and some Bounty shop towels.

MSRP is $9.99, I paid a little less than that, $9.23 or some other random Wal-Mart number. I did note that the price is only slightly less than my favorite Slick (normally $10.95, right now on sale for $9.31). I took the last bottle on the shelf.

Initial things I noticed - the scent is very much like NXT, maybe a little more bubble-gummy or something. Can't quite put my finger on it. Second thing I noticed - the sprayer. This is not news to those who know my sprayer fanaticism, especially Heather . It sprays a very wide, ultra-fine mist. LOVE IT. I'm going to try and figure out a way to rig it off the bottle when I'm done with it.

I sprayed a fine mist over the driver's side door first, to lift some tire gel that had flung. Not sure what the cause is, but the spray beads up into microscopic beads on the surface, even on a vertical surface. I don't know if it's due to the fine spray pattern, or the chemical composition, or what, but it was sort of cool - no big hurry to wipe it away because it's not going anywhere. No dripping or anything, just teensy beads of product clinging to the panel. Then I used a Monster Fluffy to wipe it away. Feels pretty much like any other mist/wipe QD, except it is notably NOT as "slick" feeling as Slick. Lifted the tire gel, two spots of bug poo, and a bug skid mark with no problem - fine spray, one pass with the Monster Fluffy, debris was gone.

So far, other than the sprayer , nothing majorly notable. I did not notice a massive improvement of shine or smoothless or slickness of the finish like the Meguiar's test reviewers did, but I am also used to the mega-shine and slickness of Slick, Hydro, and Epic, and that's a tough act to follow.

Can't speak to the "hydrophobic"-ness that Meguair's claims, as this is Northern California so it won't rain until October, and I also did not do the whole car, just the few spots.

I still prefer Slick...but this is good as an emergency stand-in or as a slightly cheaper clay lube. I'd be curious to hear what someone who could test it and drive in some rain or something thinks of it.

 

Has anyone tried the interior spray "quick detailer". I have it but have not tried it. It says it doesn't make things shiny which I like.

 

Sounds like I'll stick with Slick, or not stick...

 

the interior quik detailer from them is actually quite good. Leaves a nice finish to things, and cleans too.

 

I second that for the Meg's Interior Quik Detailer. Doesn't leave a shiny slimy trail like ArmorAll, and really does a great job keeping marks off of the Cream Line trim. Plus, it's got a good subtle smell. I just like the convenience of keeping pop up towely things in my car. Great product

 

Agree with what's been said above re: interior detail spray - I still use it occasionally and it leaves a nice matte finish, not slimy/wet-looking like Armor All. That said, I prefer the longevity of Nero on the dash over the Meguiar's, but that's not to say that the interior QD spray is in any way bad.

 

hummm.... ive not been really sold on the Meg's QD's after getting griot's
SpeedShine and Slick.

i only use Meg maroon bottle when i clay...other then that, i tried getting
some nasty bird crap that must have got on a few days before my biz trip
this week that i didn't see... thing was CAKED on.. Meg QD didn't do crap..
i mean, i only soaked it for a few sec, but still nothing...

i pulled out Slick and then it started lifting off and making it
slippery again for even more lifting power.

the crap etched the civic's paint so i need to polish it later. oh well...

 

Agreed 100% with Kenchan. Speed Shine, Slick, Z-6, etc. are all better than the Meguiar's QD in my opinion.

 

It's a staple for me. Everytime I go to detail someone's interior--the Quik Interior detail spray is what I use. You can spray it on everything without leaving any residue. After it's cleaned off, I still will apply a dressing like Nero--remember Int QD isn't like Nero. It's a general purpose interior spray for all surfaces that removes scuff marks, minor stains, food residues, etc..You should also check out their Quick Out product that was made with Bissell. It works great for pulling stains.

Well how many of those listed can be bought from Kragen or Pep Boys??? The target market is different of course. Meguiar's consumer products are meant for the mass market--well those that know better anyways. The price also matched the availability. But with that said, I still think Slick is the best.

I tried Meguiar's new QD awhile back, and wasn't all that impressed--though Meguiar's does do one thing well and that's make good reusable spray bottles! Just refill them with Prima--that's what I do.
