Women (some) are a piece of work
I'm a woman and this is gonna sound really bad, but I see my MINI as kind of like an accessory so he has to look good at all times. Plus I believe that a nice and shiny MINI is a happy MINI.
And there is nothing wrong with the fact that my MINI owns more "toiletries and cosmetics" (and bath towels!) than I do.

I detailed my wife's Expedition as a pretext for getting all the necessary detailing supplies. The fact that they were totally usable on the MINI was but a mere coincidence.
Now she comes to me to tell me that her SU-Pig needs a wash. Oh well, small price to pay for being able to purchase all the detailing stuff I want.
Oh and Heather, I would say you are a girly girl that just has her priorities in the proper order!

You washed a Jeep Grand Cherokee!!!?!!!
A 4X4 meant for off-roading!!!?!!!
An urban assault vehicle that makes a statement!!!
IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE DIRTY!!
Maybe she was upset and didn't want to mention your work because a "sparkly" Jeep simply does not make sense for the image she was trying to convey in her 4X4. Now it probably looks like its never been off-road (which it probably hasn't but you don't want to convey that by WASHING it.

Yes and no. My wife simply looks at vehicles as a tool that gets her from point A to point B. Other than an auto tranny, power locks/windows and AC, she could care less. She doesn't understand my obsession with my previous Mustangs, or my current infatuation with Minis. She feels I should be in a boring 4-door econo-box with no soul, simply because all it is used for is a mode of transport.
That being said, there has been once or twice that I caught a rash of s^*@ for washing/waxing/detailing one of my Mustangs and not stepping within 5 feet of her car. It happens about once or twice a year. But in all reality, as long as her car is running perfectly, I don't hear any complaints.

To all those guys out there with a wife who just doesn't get it...
You just have to get them to understand what you're doing using their terms and concepts. Let me explain...
While getting a facial from a traveling band of Lancome experts a few years ago, I realized how much skin care and makeup parallel car care! The expert was telling me how important skin care is to the final result of makeup and the final look.
She talked about detoxifying with toners and masks (claybar), deep cleansing with facial cleansing creams and again masks (paint cleansers & chemical polishes), exfoliating away dead skin with exfoliators (abrasive polishes), and then moisturizing and protecting with moisturizers (wax, and to some extent paint cleansers). See how it's all really the same??
We say it all the time in our on-site classes... good prep is the key to good wax! Likewise, you can't expect makeup (or even a natural look) to do much for you without the good prep!
Then there's all the accessory stuff too... like the facial products/makeup that help fill and conceal "imperfections"... just like Amigo!
Of course, just make sure she doesn't start using car care products on her face!

WOW, its the total opposite at my house. I wash, wax and detail everything, my husband never does. He has a really nice Dodge truck which he fills with garbage, and never cleans. If you want to go anywhere with him first you have to clean yourself a spot to sit in. Rather than deal with the frustration of dealing with the outpouring of crap when one opens a door, I clean it. My car is spotless, inside and out and he gives me crap for it. He tells everyone that water erosion is going to be the death of my vehicles from being cleaned too much. He also never checks any of his fluids. He is an ASE mechanic, and he relies on me and my son to make sure that he has oil, coolant, etc. Yeah, I maybe somewhat OCD, but I envy all those women who have the OCD guys, boy that would sure help my 'polishers elbow' to recover!

Wait... of course. You can use the PC for BOTH!!

I like to use Swirl for crow's feet, blemishes and dry patches, and Amigo for laugh lines. Finish with Oil of Ole' topped with 2 coats of Epic for longevity. Buff to a warm finish...
We're both ****. Just yesterday I commented to my husband "you're wheelwells look great, I see you spent some extra time on the wash" his response " Thanks for noticing. The truck could really use a claybar? Can you show me how? Neighbours think we're sick.
That microdermabrasion device that looks kindda scary? I think it's supposed to "smooth fine lines and wrinkles" or something like that. I don't own one, I just watch a lot of tv.
So... what's the analogy to the PC then?

I love it! I'm going to print this picture out and set it out by the in-store PC display...

Rav4 dont need no stinkin Fart Can, its already faster than the first gen MINIs

Just look for the ones already driving sports cars ... they do exist and I was lucky that my "future" wife was a sports car lover
I should use that one when my wife wants our Expedition washed. However, I think she has pretty much given up on trying to understand my AR behaviour at this point.
my girlfriend can finally tell the differance between a swirled car and a non swirled car.
good enough for me. she is learning to love cars as much as i do which is awesome. (she calls me everytime she see's a porsche, lambo, or ferrari
)
)
Perhaps some women are just wired different than us. These same women probably shop for cars in the following manner:

my wife can tell between a clean car and a dirty car but not sure about
swirled and not swirled...
The Wife unit has this to say, "If you want me to go to all the trouble to look good, then that car better look good too!".
She is not as **** about it as I am, but she appreciates a clean, sparkly car.

My wife thinks anymore time spent than it takes to wash the care with Dawn, rinse, and dry it with old bath towels, is wasted time. BTW it only takes her 5 minutes to wash her Toyota Solara.
