[Sat, Dec. 16 @ 4pm] Holiday Party at Katie's

Stace and I were talking about this at the breakfast. It makes sense, as I have the most room for a large DCMM party. We were thinking December 16th, and it would be a pot-luck and a silly santa grab bag deal.
What do y'all think?

princeofwaldo Oct 22, 2006 12:03 PM

How large is large? Perhaps make it into a going away party for all the Republicans in congress too....lol

kgdblu Oct 22, 2006 04:10 PM

let's put it this way...our new addition is as big as some folks' apts.

mdsbrain Oct 22, 2006 04:12 PM

I'd be game.

I see. Well, living in an apartment myself, I can say that your addition is around 1,000 square feet. Actually mine is a 2 bedroom apartment, the mini of the two available 2-BR floor plans... But I have a detached garage, a nice indoor spot about a block from the building I am in.

There were no garages available by my apartment so have to make a little walk each morning.

The problem is this, --the garage is not attached. And so when I lock myself in the garage to admire my Mini there is always this look of contempt on my neighbors face as I exit the garage some hours later. The garage door opens, there is a look of satisfaction on my face, and they all wonder what "that pervert could possibly be doing in his garage with the door shut for hours at time".

Yep, apartment dwelling is so much more the social experience. No matter how big your house, you can never duplicate that Emile Zola-like existence that goes along with living amongst the lumpenproleteriat. Alas it is the true fabric of humanity.

What does your post have to do with this thread? Stick to the topic

kgdblu Oct 22, 2006 09:49 PM

um prince...you live in KC. This is a thread for exploring the possibility of a DCMM holiday party in Severna Park, MD....so I'm a lil confused.
Anyhoo.....party, anyone?

How is "Party @ Katie's" and "You have a big house and I live in an apt." be the same topic? :sly:

Ok, Ok, So back to seeing if the nice, friendly, loving people of DCMM would like to enjoy a holiday party at Katie's house.
I believe that this is enough notice for you all to clear your schedule and decide whether or not you want to have some cheer!
As Katie said, we want to make this pot luck so we can have a variety of foods, as well as not putting one person to feed all our hungry stomachs. I will put up a sign up sheet of sorts, for groupings of food dishes ( I don't want 30 deserts and nothing else!)
Also, asking everyone to get a grab bag type gift to exchange. This will be UNDER $20 and something 'gag' gift sort, so nothing to plain!
EVERYONE is invited! Families too as well! New members, here is a great opportunity to meet a whole bunch of new friends! Oldies, here is a great opportunity to keep in touch with your DCMM friends during the 'slow' time of events. Sign up on the calendar

Great idea for a party!!!!

However, I'll not be able to attend as I'll be boarding a flight that day to West Palm Beach, FL, in order to visit family & to journey down to Key West to have our (now) annual 'Drunk & Partying Family Christmas in the Keys'!

(BTW, Katie, going to the Keys this year?)

Umm, I dont see a problem with 30 desserts. As long as they arnt all coconut pies :) (Yuck! Coconut!)

The Short Bus Oct 23, 2006 09:18 AM

I'd like to go miniless again!
Although, i'm going to assume this is far away from my home in Richmond, and i'd be FORCED to being a dessert on such a long journey :)

Because Katie made a reference as to how her addition alone was the size of someone's apartment.

mmatarella Oct 23, 2006 05:20 PM

My apologies Katie for missing this, I'd be there if possible! My marina's boat lighting contest and party is the 16th... I HAVE to be there since I always win 1st prize!

(Not the parade you came down to last year, this is a 'in the slip' contest at my marina)

Edge Oct 25, 2006 12:27 PM

This sounds like fun - party at Mom's house!

MINInurse Oct 25, 2006 04:52 PM

Well, seeing as how my proposed trip to Green Bay was planned for this weekend is now looking like it is going to cost us OVER 1K, Count us IN! I can't see spending that much money on a single weekend. I know it is crazy, but I just don't have the cashola.
But would be MORE than happy to join in on some DCMM fun!

kgdblu Oct 26, 2006 08:56 AM

lordy, over 1K? where were you going to stay...the Ritz?
I'm very glad you'll be able to make it...the more the merrier!

Football tickets arnt easy to come by, especially for the staple teams. and when you finally do come by those tickets, they arnt cheap. Tickets for the Ravens/Titans game a few years back costed my mommie and daddie (birthday present), as far as i could tell, over $250. And neither of those teams were really all that. Take the history of Green Bay and Lambeau. I could see 1k for a weekend...

MINInurse Oct 26, 2006 09:36 AM

Well, it is Lambeau Field. The Field of Dreams for me..So no they wern't that cheap, but they were also Season Passes from a friend of mine, so that was a key point! Plus the hotels there aren't a plenty and even finding one in July wasn't easy, and expensive since it is a game weekend. Then you have to consider the fact that we were going to drive...15hr each way... So....We are back in town:cry: I am bummed that we can't go. I really hope Brett plays another year and that we can afford it again. I sure hope I don't regret this decision no to go... But Alas, Money Talks in my family...
