Please help

So... considering that I am planning to autocross all summer long and I am becoming a SCCA member I decided to buy a helmet so I don't have to borrow one every time I autocross. Plus I need a helmet that matches my Little One.

The question is where to go? I saw a coplue of places on the Internet but I would like to buy in person: it must fit me right and the color MUST match ( I am Italian after all, style and color coordination is important to me).

I was told of a place in GlenBurnie (don't know the address or name ) any suggestions? I am a bit confused with Snell 95 or higher. Is the number written inside? I want a Full Face and I am on the $200 budget (is it realistic?)

Thank you in advance for helping me out.

We have bought motorcycle helmets in the past from Coleman's Power Sport in Falls Church. They might be in Fairfax? I can drive there, but not sure what town they are in!

We get several catalogs in the mail but have never bought helmets from them or on line before.

Definitely don't buy them online...as you point out, you want to try it on. I don't think you'll find anything to match your car, either....they seem to be black or white.
We bought our helmets at Pete's Cycle on Rt.2 here in Severna Park. I think they were $125 or so..

Never buy a helmet online unless you absolutely know the make, model and size. I go to OG Racing for my safety equipment but they only care Snell SA helmets. Will all of the events you do accept a M or DOT rated helmet?

Now that's good question. I participate to Solo 2 events organized by SCCA clubs.

I'll second Colman Power Sports in Falls Church. That is where I purchased my hard hat. Lots of helmets, lots of styles, lots of colors. The local SCCA region receives some help from OG Racing. I do not know where they are located, but they should not be that hard to find. Do you have numbers yet. I made up something for your Dragon event (22 GSL) using MS Power Point. It should be noted however that the letters may be to small for use in DC? What ever you use make sure they stand out.

Norbert came home Friday. No pictures yet but got 200 miles on the car. The other Italian(s) on the thread will like this. My helmet now matches my roof, both are silver.

I tried to post a message on the Roadfly Lounge but I guess they are having issues.

Got it.

Thank you 'll for the tips and suggestions. I ended up in buying my helmet at Pete's Cycle just around the corner from my place in Annapolis.

I checked out three places yesterday and returned to Pete's Cycle to order a nice Antracite helmet SNELL 2005 .. really nice... and yes trying it on made a big difference.
The helmet I got had different head shapes... In any case, I blew my budget BIG TIME !! I really really tried to go with the cheaper one but at the end I ordered the more expensive one.... nothing is too nice for Streghina !! and I am in style, too.

Sometime I wish I had picked up a much cheaper hobby like gardening or sewing !!!

John, I got my numbers, magnetic ones and they stand out OK. I am trying to get in for FEDX Sunday event .. but I will come by anyway need to see Marshall's new MINI.
