Indeed. Especially because I said I wasn't going to do it. Very very tempting.

I envy you all and being able to get that low price. And from a local vendor.

What a deal! I had John do my pulley about this time last year and I've got to tell you he is one of the most professional mechanics and all around personable guys you will ever meet. I have owned many ncie cars over the years and dealt with a lot of mechanics. When you find a good one who isn't out to sell you a bunch of stuff you don't need it's rare. I'll do the 50 min drive to John's shop to have him work on my car because he is that good.

Really good price considering their normal price is $410. How good is the madness pulley? Isn't it all aluminum?

I'm pretty much already committed to one. Calling now to fully commit myself (along with get some other stuff done at the same time).

Can anyone speak to the quality of the MiniMaddness pulley vs. the Alta (which seems to be a fairly popular choice) or one of the others?

Perhaps LDG can provide a few words about why they chose that pulley over others?

If you call up and talk to John he'll be more than willing to talk to you about it. He's going to be out of town next week though. I called up earlier and talked to him about a couple of other things I want in addition to the pulley (intake and short shifter) and he was more than willing to talk about options.

Check the drivetrain forums. Quite a few people have chimed on the quality of the madness pulley, including Randy Webb.

I called LDG to make an appointment, but they don't have any opening's soon, and I'm leaving the country for a few weeks next week... So if you're interested, call now.

Thank you for the discussion of and interest in our offer.

The Mini-Madness pulley is an anodized aluminum part; we've used it for some time, in a variety of applications, and been completely satisfied with its performance. We're hardcore racers; we do a lot of testing; we wouldn't install a part unless we had complete confidence in its reliability.

Stepping back from the "to pulley or not to pulley" discussion for a minute - the real question we encourage every enthusiast to ask is, "what is the best way to enhance the performance of my car for my intended use." The answer to that question may or may not be "to pulley;" a pulley is one small tool - admittedly a fairly easy and inexpensive one to use - in a very large toolbox.

We see race parts on street cars, street parts on race cars, parts that individually are great but simply don't work well together, and so on. Our perspective is that you really need to tune a car to the owner's driving style and intended use.

The MINI, after all, is a great car out of the box. If someone comes to us and asks us how to make a stock MINI go faster on track, our first suggestion usually is to consider an investment in a 3 day vacation with Skip Barber.

Regards, Lucky Dog Garage

I'm scared if...

Wagnbat gets a 15 percent pulley - his dang MINI is already so frigging fast - I think he has that factory sanctioned burred out inlet for his supercharger - Wagnbat - care to explain?

Your mom.

I'd be much happier if I could have gotten in on this before my trip... Oh well, hopefully reservations aren't booked in a few weeks.

Mine was done yesterday too. Definately feel a difference. Car pulls alot better. They had our cars for about 2 hours for the install. We sat at the local library while we waited. John sure does love this stuff. He took us around for a personal tour which lasted about 30 minutes.

For $235 you sure can't beat it. I would higly recommend everyone jump on this while it lasts.

I have my appointment set for the 13th. Mine's going to take a wee bit longer as I'm getting more than just the pulley put in that day.

If you're on the fence...

go for it. Pully is the best power mod for the car. By a large margin.

You'll enjoy the pulley. Do tell what else you're doing.
