Heh, only 3 people are looking at the mag. And I was holding it sideways because I was admiring the... uhhh... Articles...
Oh, and in regards to your sickly Mini, what are those rods, 2 for each cylinder?
Also, why are some blackened on top, and some not? If anyone knows.
I really need a shop manual.
I'm no expert for engines but those are 2 of the 4 valves on top of the cylinders. The blackened ones had a touch of oil on top.
That Sprocket looking thing on the left isn't normally sitting there
those "rods" are the rockers for the valves. the cam lobe hits one side of the rocker and pushes the valve open...once the lobe spins all the way around the valve closes.
Ahhhh... Makes sense... Except why they're all lined up.
not sure what your asking by why they're all lined up?
if you mean why are they all in a line its because one side is the intake side and one side is the exhaust side. 4 valves per cylinder 2 intake and 2 exhaust.
But shouldn't they be staggered still, 1/2 up, 1/2 down? Or maybe all 1/4 off? The latter probably makes more sense, as it's still a 4 stage combustion engine, and not a 2 stroke.

yeah i was looking at that myself and thinking the same thing. the only thing i can think is that they took the cam out? but it looks like its in there? cant really tell from that picture.
Was nice to meet many of you last Saturday. Look forward to seeing and meeting more of y'all in the near future. And, thanks for not holding it against my wife that she drives a Mustang.
