DCMM - Who's in Ellicott City and Columbia, MD Area?

Greetings,

I am an Ellicott City, MD member of DCMM and was wondering who else in DCMM is in the Ellicott City and Columbia area?

Would any of you folks be interested in meeting up at either the Rita's at St Johns Lane and Rte 144, OR at the Soft Serve Ice Cream next to the Forest Diner on Rte-40? We can meet and show off our MINIs. Of course this is an open invite to all DCMM members and MINI owners. If interested let me know and we can set a date and time. Maybe make a regular happening out of it.

I know at least one of you lives on my street, but I didn't know it when I said hello a couple of weeks back. We definitely need to connect!

MTFBWY,

I didn't know, but I do now. Thanks.

I would still like to see something local since I see many MINIs around Ellicott City and Columbia.

Shame Shame Shame, Phil:razz:

Will -- I'm close-by in Clarksville (in what used to be RURAL HoCo), about a mile east of 108.

Columbia's River Hill has encroached on our turf. Now they are just across the street :eek2: -- Help! We are being invaded. This is worse than Kudzu or Bamboo! :impatient

Hi Will,

Val and I live just South of E City, maybe 15 minutes from our house. We motor through there quite often, so if you've seen a CR/B MC around, it may have been us. I even put together a rally routed through there that DCMM ran last year. Being this close, it's possible for even an impromptu meet up to work. Let us all know.

I live in Pasadena. No far and ready for some fun.

Red_5 Aug 31, 2005 06:14 AM

It's great to see that a number of you are in the area. I will certainly keep my eyes peeled for you when I am motoring around Clarksville, Columbia and Ellicott City. :impatient (<--me with eyes peeled and also watching out for crazy SUV drivers) I know this coming weekend is a Holiday Weekend, but Jenne and I are staying in town and not really doing anything on Sunday or Monday. If anyone is interested in an afternoon mini MINI get together for ice cream and shakes at the Forest Diner/Soft Serv up on Rte 40 let me know.

Mike,
I see in your gallery that you guys had a MINI event that stopped in at Antietam National Battlefield. I am a volunteer at Antietam and I am out there once or twice a month on the weekends.

I'm sorta near EC and Columbia and such. Currently residing in Eldersburg. I really need to move though. Commuting from E-burg to Greenbelt/Beltsville is starting to get even more annoying now that schools have started back up again.

Hi,

I too live off Old Annapolis Rd in Centennial. Not yet a member of DCMM. We have had our MINI for three weeks now. A trip to Soft Stuff next to the Forest Diner sounds like a plan. Set the date and time.

Until you mentioned his name and I did a Google search I didn't even know who Nigel Mansell is. My reference to "Red 5" is a total Star Wars, A New Hope reference. It was Luke's callsign at the Battle of Yavin at the end of the film.

Red_5,

Have you applied the Star Wars decore yet?

I'm also in Ellicott City and may be able to meet up for some Soft Serv.

Hi DeeSquare,
I am working with Mike of Aestheticreations to design the decor. He and I spoke on the phone yesterday. The final design will be applied at the October Install party.

I also keep an eye out for your MINI, but haven't seen you yet. I'll keep looking. :impatient I am thinking Soft Serv for sure this coming weekend on Sunday or Monday.

The remains of it are still there and sealed off from the public. It hasn't been open to the public in over twenty years in spite of many attempts to revitalize it. Old King Cole now stands on top the sign for the neighboring Enchanted Forest shopping center and points people right to the Petco. The front castle structure is also still there as is the dragon and many of the smaller structures. Much has been sold off though.

Parts of it like the stone structures may be. There was a 50th anniversary celebration two weeks ago at a nearby farm...the owners of the farm are collecting the old attractions and restoring them for historical preservation.

If your interested in it:
