Why I don't like to park on the street...
I came out this morning and saw this across the street...
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3084/...d09318.jpg?v=0:eek2::eek2::eek2::eek2::eek2::mad::mad::mad::mad: It was the remnants of a hit and run that happened around 4am. I have no idea how I didn't hear it. I can't imagine coming out to go to work, etc and finding my car in that condition. I'm so glad Cricket was safe in the garage. |
Wow, hard to believe anything 'ran' away from that!
|
That would certainly ruin my day!
|
HOLY F***!!!! I thought the last hit & run story you told me was bad, but DAMN, I think this is worse, that car really took a hit! :eek2:
You live in the craziest part of town or something. Now I'm wondering what your next story will be! |
Had the same thing happen to me some years ago. A drunk driver totaled my '73 El Camino parked in the street, only he took out the front end. The idiot drove another half block across the neighbor's lawn cutting a furough with a folded up r-f suspension and was so drunk he didn't know what he had done. Couldn't even stand up when the police arrived. Said he 'only' drank 8 cans of beer, he thought. The best we could find to replace it was a used '86 model that wasn't half the machine the older one was. Got rid of it a few months later for an F150. Now that a MINI has entered our lives, the F150 was evicted from the garage and exists in harms way on the street. Poor thing.

Wow! What area of DC the was that in?
|
gad, from the thread title I thought something had happened to Cricket...

That poor Jeep!
The Paseo's rear passenger side hub cap is UNDER the back end...wow. |

Rememeber the Bugs Bunny episode when he's boxing and the opponent gets whacked and he says drunkingly "Duh....jus' passin' thru" , I think he was driving the mystery vehicle !
When I park Wensley on the street at home, I put Preston behind her for protection from just this sort of thing |
Yikes ! That *is* a big hit.
It's been almost a year ago, but I investigated a claim for our Insured who struck a car in the rear on I-270. Tried to flee the scene but was caught by police. As I investigated it, I came to find out about 45 minutes earlier, in DC, he has struck SIX parked cars on a residential street. And yes, he was cited for DUI. |
yea mine gets parked in the direway everynight lol

I've seen that here on the island too, not too far from my house. Twisty residential street with a 15mph speed limit, but lots of locals drive drunk and no one obeys the speed limit.
It's the slightly twisty street here. The black strip above it is about a 200ft long uphill climb at about a 15% grade. So people come gunning up the hill and the speed limit gurus expect them to slow down when they clear the top. Hah. Oh. And black road = asphault. The lighter color road = coral, aka extremely slippery in the rain, and it rains here every day. It's a wonder people still park on the street on that street. If I were to move back to DC, off-street parking would surely be a MUST. I remember the manager at MoS telling me about how his car is hit/bumped a few times a week because he parks on the street in DC. I couldn't take it. I'd sleep in the car with a shotgun. |
Somehow, it looks like an mr2 now. A definite improvement.
 |
