MINIs in Google Street View in DC Area

I got a Tmobile G1 and started playing with google street view. I think it would be cool to do a mini 'scavenger hunt'. For example:

A nice MC with rally lights

I've found a few more by cheating. I know where some others live and I know MoT's parking lot is on google street view.

Oh boy... does this mean I have to go hide again?:lol:

Time to get rid of the "WENSLEY" plates !

Let's see 'ACTL SZE' was caught in my own driveway ... is no place safe? ;) Street-view photo's from Alexandria seem to be from October of 2007 based on the views/trees/objects in my yard.

Well, the whole thing started for me when I pointed street view at my house and saw my mini parked out front in full glory. I had to think for second about it because there were party cobwebs on our bushes and my mini didn't have its rally lights. So, JimCarhart is right, I think google took the pictures last October. Of course, I was concerned about privacy. I found JimCarhart's mini, but didn't want to post a link and associate it to him. The link that I did post was kind of a 'cheat' because I drive by that mini every day on my way to work although it is not usually parked there. Since the lighting was good, I thought it would make a nice example. I don't know the owner and so I can't really link the picture to a person on NAM. I have had no luck finding minis by just 'driving' around in street view. Apparently, most of the minis in my neighborhood were not captured by the google camera car on the day it went by. I've actully only found three minis total.

The really cool shots would be of minis driving on the road.

So the fact that these are showing up on these street views is purely by chance?

tonyeck 11-18-2008 08:39 AM

Bah, street view misses my street by one block!

SpitfireMkI 11-18-2008 08:58 AM

Too funny ! Like a fishing expedition !

Depends on what the google panaramic camera car happened to drive by when the shots were taken. There are some funny blogs on the net with street view oddities. I was looking at street views near fort meyer and within one block, it magically changed from a bright sunny day to 3 inches of snow and overcast.

The lighting is not very good, but here's one in Mt. Pleasant:
