Frederick MD: Recommended MINI mechanic?

Hello DC Metro MINIs,

Is there a shop that specializes in Mini maintenance & repair in Frederick MD?

Unfortunately, even though we are the third largest city in MD we still do not have a Mini dealer.

Thanks!

Try Behe in Glendale

You have an excellent, world famous site quite nearby in Glendale. I refer to John Behe's shop, BEHE Performance (a.k.a. The Lucky Dog Garage). I refer you to his web site http://www.luckydoggarage.com/contact.html for details. Call him at 410-489-0230.

To get there from Frederick, take I70 eastbound to MD97 (Georgia Ave). Then take MD97 south about a mile, just past the library -- the shop is on your right occupying the northern ~1/4 of a strip mall.

John has done everything on a number of Minis in the area -- everything from oil changes to high performance software in the computer. My 2002 S puts out an easy-to-drive & highly reliable 200HP thanks to John's firmware and a 15% pulley.

Thanks for the recommendation Tom

Agreed, BEHE Performance sounds like a excellent choice for Mini service.
However, they are a 60-mile round trip from us.

Worst case scenario: Add two round trips for a second car to drop off & pick up the MINI = 180 total miles per service appointment.

Is there anyone in Frederick county?

I see a number of MINIs in Frederick even though we don't have a local MINI dealer. Are they all driving to Annapolis, Glenwood, Towson, or Sterling, VA every time their MINI needs service?

Thanks

I've only had mine for 6 months and I plan to do Towson for my service, at least while it is free. I also asked my mini driving co-worker and she also takes her's to towson.

I drive through Glendale frequently and it's not that long of a trip from Frederick. There's also some fun twisties between here and there if you want a more scenic route.

Before I got my Mini, I went to Spectra Auto on East st & 4th Street. They are nice, but a bit pricey and I don't think I'd want them working on my Mini. I've heard good things about the Mr Tire on East St, but I've never had any service done there.

I've only had my wheels changed there on the MINI, but the folks at Superior Auto Service Center on Wedgewood Blvd have always been great with servicing our A3. They've found and solved some problems that the dealership up the street was oblivious about.

They were even nice enough to offer a service bay during a thunderstorm this past summer so that an outside company could replace our cracked windscreen before a trip...they've always been extremely helpful and well worth a try.

Frederick Shop

I've been taking my MINI to Frederick Motorsports for a couple of years. Scott is a local SCCA racer and a great guy. He did my suspension work, installing camber plates and TSW springs as well as various oil changes and belt changes. I go there for my basic maintenance needs.

I go to John at LDG when I need someone who really specializes in MINIs, like for my LSD and custom tune.

Thanks gnhovis!

I suspected that there must be a MINI mechanic in Frederick for routine service. Do you think Frederick will eventually have a Mini dealer?
