We need you. I have thought about volunteering for this position, but hesitated due to the fact that I don't have alot of spare time and because there is no way I can fill your shoes, Maxi, as you have gone way above and beyond what I think is expected. I certainly cannot participate in weekday runs, nor even many practice runs. Weeknight activities are practicially out of the question for me as well. But, I'd also like to help you out in some way, Maxi, since you've been acting as an 'unofficial' event coordinator since the board meeting. I think many of us have been spoiled by your efforts and enthusiasm as event coordinator and don't want to change something that works so well! (frankly it's also intimidating as hell - LOL) So, having said all that, where should I apply? |

I just love doing it. Honestly, to be an EC for DCMM was one of the most fun things I've ever volunteered to do. I have had a chance to meet and know lots of people, made some new friends, some of them has become my good friends. That was one of the most valuable things for me. To involve in that magnitude, also made me appreciate and love my MINI even more. I'd consider to continue to voluteer if not because I've got tied up from work and family recently. EC is a fun things to do. :) For me, "encourage, motivate, listen and assist" are some of the key words for EC. So, I'd encourage you to please join. Lets help make DCMM a (more) fun place to be. |
I am here and all yours :)

Thank you Chris, for your very thoughtful and helpful post.
I want to make it clear to any interested volunteers that as Event Coordinator, you do not have to attend every single event, nor do you have to be involved in the detailed planning of every event. The position of Event Coordinator is primarily there to help keep things smooth running, assisting interested event organizers in setting things up, educating them as to the policies & procedures we follow, coordinating the calendar to remove/reduce conflicts, etc. Think of the EC role as a "day to day" overall operations manager for club events. Don't feel that means you have to create or manage every event, just do what you can to get things moving. You quickly become the "go to" person for event organizers... although if you are also inclined to create and manage an event or two, there's nothing wrong with that either! Naturally, a healthy amount of enthusiasm is a very positive trait, and we all know Chris has that in spades. :) And Cybergypsy... that's very nice of you - are you planning to move from Florida to the DC area? |

 Anyway, I don't think I fit all of those descriptions above, but I certainly wouldn't mind helping out in some way. I am certainly online quite often and do see a need for official help in the forums and with other tasks.
