Here are some photos from the first part of the day.

1) Early arrivers at the meet and greet.

2) It wouldn't be a Maxicooper run without the law getting involved.

3) Driver's meeting.

4) Lining up!

5) Into the mountains.

6) Bev said she was being jostled so much that a bunch of our photos are off-center. That actually worked out in a bunch of cases.

7) Lots of photos of Bill.

8) Awesome setting!

9) Packing in the MINIs into a small lot.

10) Parking at the break.

Second half coming up shortly.

Glenn

Second half photos. Bev started to get a little more creative in her shots so there are some cool photos. Too bad I think I accidentally turned off image stablization on the camera.

1) Here's a shot that could've been great if it were in focus! Agh!

2) Putting the MINI into perspective.

3) Caught up in traffic gave us a chance to get clear photos.

4) Larry (playplay) hits a good line.

5) Proof that Mike (spitfiremki) doesn't always cross the yellow line.

6) See? Bev's getting pretty creative.

7) Passing under some cool bridges.

8) Yeah right!!! (okay, i doctored the photo a little to blur the background more than it was but still, we were moving along at a pretty good pace the whole route)

9) And into Cozy!

10) More Cozy.

Okay, that should be all our photos.

Hope those that didn't get attend got a good sense at how great of a day it way. Way to go Maxicooper!

Glenn

Ya know....the guy that paints that line doesn't always seem to get the "line" down right.....

Actually, I think that was the most docile run I've done, I was just too tired

Even though I didn't have my MINI, I had a wonderful time on Sunday. Thanks to Chris and everyone else involved in making it happen... I feel better now, since I missed this run the first time around. Thanks also to you wonderful photographers... I'm not much of a photographer myself (whenever I have my camera I still rarely take it out and use it), and it's always nice to know there are plenty of other people snapping pics too. Not many pics of the Z4 (I only spotted it in the background on 2 pics), but the again, that was to be expected... this is DC Metro MINIs not DC Metro BMWs.

It was wonderful to see so many new faces as well - I hope you all join us again!

Great run, great company - and thanks to everyone for being a good sport about being the "odd one out" in the line (even if I was just the sweeper's sweeper)!

Heh... it's OK... I deserve all of the ribbing I get for the infamous Bill/Jeff mistake. Yes, I had to explain it to the newbies at my table (4 out of the 6 people at my table were with us for the first time), but that's OK!

Somehow I think that there will always be a mysterious Jeff in the background at every DCMM run I attend.

Who said it had to come from the new faces? I've been a member longer than most of the folks on the run! Us DCMM vets can screw up too!

...I have to admit, it was quite nice to sit back, relax, crank some music and just enjoy chasing the line of MINIs in front of me.

That Z4 Coupe 3.0si is one heck of a beast to drive. Totally different than a MINI of course. Not better. Different, in a wonderful way. I wish I could keep it along with my MINI. Maybe even the M Coupe variant.

Ah... the joys of imagining having $60,000 to spend on a car with almost no practicality whatsoever.

The "byline" on the BMW site for the M Coupe (i.e. highest version of the Z4 I was driving on Sunday): "Only hauls one thing."

Don't get me wrong, I love my MINI and I'll never sell it... but I'm a car guy... if it's fast and it's fun, I like it.

I like the way the pictures tell the story. Awesome indeed.

Also, thanks again for everyone for all great pictures.

Btw, good picture doesn't have to always be sharp. If it tells story, it's all good.

I like this picture, btw.

and this one.

Sshhh ...... did we really do that.

You really did a great job of keeping up with the people in front of ya.

To be honest, every one did a really good job on the day.

I think it was me that you heard say that... although you've paraphrased a bit, and made it sound worse. What I actually said was:

"If the MINI in front of you can make the turn, so can you!"

Hairpins at 70? Wasn't me saying that!

One of my favorites, a little blurry. I wasn't as quick with the camera here.

Uh, Randy?!? The run hadn't even started yet! Was he checking on an APB just in from California??

I'm sorry for the paraphrasing! I must just have been reading between the lines.

How about this: Oops! What a typo. I meant to say "hairpins at 70 kilometers per hour...". Is that better? I imagine even the slower group was taking those turns at 70 kph.
