boy, there sure is one hell of an echo in here.

GREAT RUN!! that was my first and i cant believe how much fun it was. i knew it would be fun, but i didnt expect it to be half as fun as it was. they say minis are the most fun you can have with your pants on, but that was, at least compared to a few times, more fun than i have had with my pants off.

i loved the look on the peoples faces when 20 something minis just kept coming. especially that guy who was walking his dog with his, i assume, wife. he just kept shrugging like "what the hell? how many are there?", and his wife just kept waving. i was also surprised at how many pictures i am in, then again, i was right in front of mike at the beginning and i was only one car ahead on the second part. i think i am the second pair of eyes in the driver's eyes pic. the ones farther away.

btw, thanks mike for being so helpful and for letting me in the line at the start of the run. also, (sorry i dont know your name) i want to thank the guy i spoke to at the dealership right before the run. thanks for letting everyone know that i was on the way. i almost missed the run because i got lost in baltimore trying to pick up the friend i brought along. i pulled into the dealership and no one was there and i thought i missed it. what a shame that would have been.

it was great to meet so many fellow mini owners. sorry i still dont know many people's names, but thats a lot of people to meet at one time. o well, as time goes by (play it again sam) i will learn everyone's names.

thanks again for an awesome day!

Like D-Unit, this was my first run and WOAH. It exceeded my already high expectations! It was just amazing. I can't find the words to describe how much fun it was!
Thank you Laura and David for helping me figure out what was going on at the dealership and for lending me their spare radio.
Also thank you to the owner in the blue Mini Cooper S w/ white bonnet stripes for letting me squeeze in front of you in the beginning, I was quite confused (and I could see you laughing about it)!
Here's my share of pictures (photo credit to my co-pilot Cristie):

Sorry for the glare on the glass, but this shows how long of a caravan we had going (and there were 5 in front of me!)

Once again, that line stretched quite far back

Woo! That's my Victoria on the right :D

Thanks for the excellent pictures, Acrobatikdan, from a fellow BRGer Now I have a few with clear shots of my MINI. I definitely need to remember to bring my camera next time.

Its great to see the enthusiasm from the new members, I'm still a relative newbie myself, only one year and really, I started participating in November since my work schedule was so crazy over the summer.

I share your reflections, its great to zip and zing along with other MINIs and it is quite fun to see people's reactions when the gang goes by.

However, it is very nice to see strangers smile and act like human beings when so much of our time on the road seems more like a battle to the death just to get to a stop light. I include members in this because we were all strangers when we joined, even on this run there are new and old faces that I do not know, if only all motorist could see each other the way we see our fellow members I guess that's why we find frustration in not getting a wave from a fellow MINI.......

Purchasing Wensleydale has been a long time goal since I first saw and heard about the new MINI in the late 90's. She marks a proud moment for Leona and myself following some really, really tough years.

I truly appreciate DCMM and its members for taking us in and making us feel so welcome and a part of the family.

Cheers,

Mike

Nicely put, Mike.

Bev and I echo your sentiments. In our short time in the club, we've met so many wonderful people. Dare I say that we've found friends and not just acquaintances.

And I love what you said about people acting like humans for once when they see our group. The waves and smiles are what make the runs special to me.

Great pictures, folks
But I guess the downside of being sweeper is that I'm not in any of them
Guess I'll have to move up in the pack next time
See you all Sunday in Frederick and Liberty
