[Monday, July 21st] Phil Wicks MINI Driving Academy at VIR
According to the PWDA Basic Rule Book:
"Tires should be inflated to maximum according to car manufacturer's recommendation."
So, the magic number (at least for the stock tires) is in the manual.....I'd just list it here, but it varies a bit depending on which size wheels and tires you have.
Anyone care to venture a guess as to how I should interpret that rule for aftermarket wheels (7.5 x 16) and tires (225/45-16)?

I've heard many different things about how to properly inflate your tires for street vs track use and there seems to be some sort of science (although not exact) to it. I know there are some people on here who do these sorts of events all the time, so please enlighten us!

Sorry.....misunderstood your question. I only quoted from their rule book because I figured this was one of those things Phil et al would check at the tech session and you wanted to know what they would expect.
I'm in the dark as well re the best way to do it.

No worries...I'm sure someone out there can help us. I don't think they check air pressure at the tech inspection, do they?
I am trying to get my clients' $$$$$$ together and see if the HI has room for tomorrow night ..
If I can manage the plan is:
Load the car tonight, get the GPS in with the different locations , work a couple of hours, then tomorrow morning go to the GYM @ 7:30, train a new client 10-12, go to the bank and depost his check, get on the road between 1 and 2. In the evening find a nice place to eat and relax by the pool - maybe?
Hey guys,
I arrived a couple of hours ago @ the HI. Route 29 was fine (a lot of police and road kills) I made in 4.5 hours with one quick stop to refuel and bathroom break.
Drive safely - See you all tomorrow

I will probably get to the meeting point around 9:40am. If people show up earlier, we might be able to leave earlier as well.

After all the pre-planning, it turned out that for a variety of reasons I could not attend this event, but I'm dying to know how it went out there. Let's have a full report, please.
