[Monday, July 21st] Phil Wicks MINI Driving Academy at VIR
Additional Info
I spoke to Phil tonight (interrupted his dinner with the Mrs.
).
He asked me to pass along some info:
).He asked me to pass along some info:
- If you emailed them with a question or helmet request (as in my case) you should get a response from them. If you did not (as I didn't), please resend the email - racerwicks@aol.com.
- Sunday's Pre-registration and Tech Inspections will begin around 4p at the Sleep Inn and go until 6p or 7p. As noted previously in this thread, the more people that do this on Sunday means the sooner we start on Monday.
- On Monday morning, while we don't start until 7a, the track will be open between 5:30a - 6:00a if you want to get to the paddock, unload the bits from your car and get situated. I'm sure M will be first in line

How much time you guys are allocating for lunch ?
I was thinking something more simple and quick in order to arrive early at the H.I., drive to the other hotel to get the inspection done and then have a nice dinner, although I'll reserve the nicer dinner for Monday night when I can drink wine and a couple of cocktails.

Lastrega you're right.
With the information that JustDandy posted, we should probably just plan on making ONE quick stop at a Fast Food type place around Charlottesville instead of stopping in Culpeper and Lynchburg, so we can get to Danville and Sleep Inn at a reasonable time for the inspection.
I think this way if we should be able to arrive in Danville by 4pm.
If nothing else, we have a good list of places to go on the way back up

Another thought is, this isn't an official run by any means. There's certainly no obligation to stick with the caravan the entire 5 hours. If you'd like to take a detour along the way, by all means feel free to do so
FYI: Between Ruckersville and Charlottesville there are a number of fast food places, and this is where you will encounter a number of “lights” too, so you will be slowing the pace anyway.
Gee, from reading the tread I was begging to think Caravan B was all about a lunch in Culpeper “Run” vs. getting to Danville.
Not a sermon, just a comment, as I will be heading down #29 on Saturday.

I will meet you guys in the morning as planned and see how the trip goes.
And to update...I will not be joining either caravan. The draw to check out random food places on my own schedule is too strong!
I wish my day would slow down since I have piles of A/P invoices that need to go to my project managers. Looks like I will have to put in a few hours on Saturday. I love vacation except for all the work prior and when I get.
Definately excited to hit the road and go play at VIR
See ya all Sunday morning or in the afternoon if you are not in the caravan.

Recently and unexpectedly, one of the companies that I had contract with was closed down.
My big account though.
I have tons of thing that I have to deal with at the moment.
Thank you though. I really wish I could make it, I would be a great fun.
So sorry to hear about the lost account, Chris. A lot of us are feeling the effects of the downturn in the economy. Let's all keep our fingers crossed for a good outcome in November (whatever that might be) that will get the economy back on track!
Maybe one of us could offer to share a room, too!
BTW. I have two separate questions:
1. Did anybody notice the requirement to fill our tires to MAX pressure for our tires?
2. Has anybody tried contact paper for their vehicle numbers before? Just wondering if they have enough tack to stay on for a day.

I think the term "foodie" could apply to me.
Maybe a "bring Maxi to VIR" fund?
