[Sat, Jan 19th @ 4pm] Holiday Party at Katie's

Are we going to have a holiday party this year? Anyone have any input

Minyuette Nov 10, 2007 04:44 AM

I'd offer my place as the location but my apartment is about as big as my Mini. Although that in itself could make a fun party to see how many of us we could squish together. ;) Throw in food and drinks and you have a whole battery of party games! "Interpretive Food Stains", "Who's Hand is This?", "In Close Quarters: Creative Ways to Share Eggnog with 100 of Your Best Friends" and the old favorite "Keg Stands, How to Maximize the Effect with Minimal Space."

(And now back to your normal thread...)

I heard a rumor about a holiday party that may be held in January somewhere in Severna Park, Md.

kgdblu Nov 10, 2007 06:25 AM

Let me verify that rumor. If everyone's willing to wait until the end of January, we can do it at my house. I'd do it sooner, but my nephew's getting married in NYC in mid-January, so we'll be gone for a a few days around the 12th. We get home from Fla. less than a week before that.

If ya'll want, we could do it it, say, the 2nd Sat of Dec. (the 8th) if it must be sooner.
The format would be the same as last year....Pot luck, BYOB, gift exchange with gifts being under $20, and everyone gets gussied up all pretty like.

The reason I chose the first date( end of Jan.) is because the holidays can get crazy and the end of Jan is quieter. We don't have to do it in Jan.

Either way, our house is open to the club, just like last year.

I am totally open for a January party...With so much going on during the holiday season, it would be nice to have one later so we can CONTINUE to celebrate the season! (Plus I have to work the second week of December:lol:)

If it is January, than WE MUST revive the DCMM tradition of the Yankee Gift Swap at the party. Everyone will have something after the holidays that they want to re-gift. All party attendees need to bring one item (re-giftable only!!!aka the one gift you did not want and would never want) - wrapped - and then we do the swap. Pick and steal style! It's a lot of fun

 I concur -- the "Gift Giving" at DCMM parties is the social hilight of the year!

 And if you've never been to Katie's and Paul's abode, it's a wicked party venue

That's why I thought the end of Jan. would be better. It also gives us all something to look forward to after the chaos of the holidays. So, the last Saturday in Jan.?

hmmmm...does every present have to be a re-gift? I, for one, won't be getting any Xmas presents, so I planned to buy something new. That's why I suggested the $20 limit. Whatever you guys want to do is fine.

MINInurse Nov 12, 2007 05:40 AM

and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make your gifts PG rated!!!! There are usually children attending, and we don't want......you get the picture:lol: Last sat of Jan...lets see if I have to work....would that be the 26th? I SHOULD be off, but I will put in for it being off anyway!

kgdblu Nov 12, 2007 06:57 AM

Yes, the 26th. I'm thinking we could start at around 4PM...

kgdblu Dec 3, 2007 06:54 AM

So, there's already a possible change of date for the party. Brian (MINI-Bee)and Jessie (Stripes) are going to be in MD the weekend prior too the original planned date of the party.

I was wondering if it'd be ok with everyone if the party date was moved from the 26th to the 19th. That way, they get to attend and meet everyone.

If the majority think it's ok, then post here and the date will be changed. You can count my "vote" as the first one for moving up the date. Thoughts?

Maxicooper Dec 3, 2007 09:49 AM

As per the request from the host of the party, the tentative date for the holiday dinner party has been changed to Jan 19th, 2008.

Please add your name to the rsvp list below.

kgdblu Dec 3, 2007 12:55 PM

Well, it's DCMM's party...it just happens to be at my house. So, I hope the change of date isn't going to mess with anyone's schedule. I think it's enough of a heads up, tho.

MINI-Bee Dec 3, 2007 05:13 PM

Thank you soo very much everyone!! We can't wait to see you all again. And for her to meet the people she hasn't met, and for me to meet the people I haven't met. So I expect a lot of people to show up!!! PARTY!!!!!!!!!!

MINI-Bee Dec 4, 2007 03:54 PM

yeah Stace, you and Jay have got to be there. We would miss you even more than we always do.

MINInurse Dec 13, 2007 12:53 AM

Just want to remind everyone that this will be POT LUCK, so start signing up for what you will be bringing!!

mmatarella Dec 13, 2007 04:17 AM

I'll be there with a big batch of Chili...

RHinaHBMCSC Dec 13, 2007 11:22 AM

I will also RSVP, but you can count us as two adults and 1 child (who BTW will be 8 months old!!! OMG! Where has the time gone?).

Not sure what to bring foodwise...something easy and quick (read: "what can I buy on the way to the party?"). Suggestions are good, but I might think of something too. :) Drawing a blank right now though.

Yay!! I can't wait to see everyone too!

Jen Dec 13, 2007 12:04 PM

I'll bring a veggie tray and if I can find the time, I will make my crumble again.

Minyuette Dec 13, 2007 02:13 PM

I am going to try to be there, we're closing on the sale of my father's house in Philly that week so I hesitate to RSVP yet...
