Mach V Summer Meet and Charity Car Show 2007: Saturday, August 18
The 2007 Mach V Mega Colossal Meet and Charity Car Show will happen on Saturday, August 18, 2007.
This will be our second annual charity event, with proceeds going to benefit Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the National Capital Area. Last year we raised $1000. I'd like to better that this year! Like last year, it'll be a car show, with prizes for Best Engine Bay, Best Exterior, and Best of Show, plus a bonus prize for Car We'd Most Like to Own Ourselves. If we can get a quorum of MINIs (and I'm betting we can!), we'll have a MINI class.
There'll be a voluntary $10 donation to attend. Registration for the car show will be $25 in advance, $45 the day of the show. Call us at (703) 435-5000 to pre-register.
Car show setup will be from 9 am to 10 am, with the event beginning at 10 am and lasting until 4pm. The coveted show trophies will be awarded starting at 4pm.
Location is the Mach V/Ultimate Performance shop, located at:
45064-B Underwood Lane
Sterling, VA 20166

This event is getting closer. I asked MINInurse about making it an official DCMM get-together. I'd be happy to set aside a section of the parking lot and make other accomodations, if people are interested. Interested?

I think I'll be there. I can't remember if I've already made plans.

Hmm.... may be our board could do something to the calendar to accomodate both events. Move the breakfast to 8/11?
Doesn't mean that you can't go to the car show or the breakfast or both.

I hadn't realized the breakfast was that weekend. I'm sorry I scheduled it at the same time. I hope that those of you who wouldn't otherwise make the Towson trek will be able to swing by our event. I promise it's a good time. And it's for a good cause!

I got confirmation from MINI of Sterling that we'll have some cars at the event from the dealership. I saw a nice-looking brand-new Sidewalk model rolling off the delivery truck there today...

We'll now have new car product from Mini, Subaru (2008 WRX), and Mitsubishi (2008 Lancer). And there will be a hamburger-eating contest. Plus...Supras! They have, like, the horsepower of ten Minis!

Even better, if you look at the USA-sold MINIs, the least powerful is the Cooper at 115 HP. Are you saying the Supras have 1150 HP?
LOL
Sorry, couldn't resist.Of course, unless by typing "Minis" instead of "MINIs" in your text, it wasn't a typo and you actually did mean the classic Minis...
Actually, I was thinking of the phrase, "...the strength of ten men." Nobody ever says, "The strength of eight men." But anyway, as mentioned, 750hp is pretty common for Supras. 1100 hp is not so common, but not unheard of. They're pretty insane when modded.
As to the MINI compared to Mini designation, I just get a little lazy sometimes...

We had great weather and a huge turnout for our August 18 event. (Okay, so not a huge turnout for the Mini people. I did see goldenchild and PGT, though.) It was nuts here! I had a great time, and we raised over $1300 for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
