Ok, I have my Kuhmo Ecsta 700s that I bought at the beginning of last year. They were great tires. They are now completely slick. Except for a bit of tread on the edge. My arch nemesis was about a second behind me, but then he bought new Avon Tech R's on an older Sentra SE-R. He was on an old set of victoracers. Now he is always just ahead of me (.1s-.3s). I can't seem to catch him. Watching him I notice that he is able to lay power down well before me in the corners. I have to wait before I can get on the throttle. BTW we are spanking the hell out of the rest of the class as well as most of the other stock classes. It's a bummer to be faster that most of the other stock classes and go home with a second place .

How much do tires change over the life? Was I just at an advantage before and now I'm not? or would a new set of tires give me more of an edge?

 

My guess is the V700's are completely heat cycled out, and his old victos were too, but now he moved on and you are still with the old tires. Throw some new 710's on there and you should be back to were you were.
