Tire Pressures
 

Doing my first autocross with the Mini this weekend and am looking for some ballpark tire pressures to start out with.

I've been autocrossing for a good 5+ years now but with a BMW 318ti so Im sure there's a lot Im going to have to learn about the R53.

Just running on my daily all season tires and fully stock otherwise, since Im not sure I want to fully jump into turning the R53 into my new autocross toy, but they are BFG Comp 2 AS, 205/45/17, and I know Im not going to be competitive at all but turning off that mentality for me is going to be very difficult.

Being a FWD car I would assume I want the rear pressures higher than the front but I dont know where to start out for either. Obviously once I get going I'll be able to use the trusty chalk on the sidewall method but any direction as where to start out with would be greatly appreciated!

I run pretty sky high on my r56, even with super stiff sidewall RE71R. I run the 215/17 though, the 205 has a slightly better sidewall angle.

Surface dependent, I run from 38-41 in front, and typically stick to ~41 in the rear and will only drop the rear pressures if the car gets real loose in transition. Higher than 41 and the car sits up on it's toes and is really skittish, any lower than 38 and I just grind the sidewalls down while going slower.

The BFG on your car is going to have a softer sidewall, probably worth it to start on the high end. Obviously don't exceed the max pressure written on the sidewall.
