Offset question please help! x-post

...I am running GS. I am going to purchase some used SSR Comps 16 x 6.5 (OE size, which it has to be). BUT! You can put ANY tire on them that you want. I will be putting 225/50R16s w/Kumho V710s. So my question is - what's the "legal" offset on that setup?

stock offset is 48, so you need to be between 42 and 54. the 225's will fit on the wheel just fine, but will rub in the rear a little. Most have found that the 215/40/16 V710 is the best size for your car

What kind of deal are you going to get on the SSR's? When I bought mine they were the only game in town. Now Rota is making the Slipstream in a MINI size at $500 shipped they are hard to beat for 18racing.com. You want the 56.1 hub size et 45. The 225's will fit, but they are too tall and kill you gearing. Go with the 215/16 or the 205/16 Hoosier.

I bought a used set of Rota Slipstreams this year, with a set of 215/40R16 Kumho V710s. Since I bought an older MCS, it did not have an LSD, and I got some pretty brutal tire wear. I had to buy 2 front tires, so I put on 225/50R16s on the Rota 16X6.5" wheel. It has changed the gearing for the worse, but grip is much better, I think because of the wider contact patch. The wheel spin has minimized, I think because of the lower torque being transmitted to the tire.

So, to make a long story somewhat, well, long, I am running 225/50s up front and 215/40s in the back.

Also, I would consider selling the set of wheels and tires that I have. They are the Royal Grey, 4X100, 56.1mm bore, 45 offset. PM me if you are interested.
