Small rims,fat tires
Hello all, fresh Mini owner here. Traded my FJ cruiser for a 2012 CM All4 (S)
Absolutely love the car, and obviously want to mod it.
I love the look of the 'small rims, fat tire' setup as seen here (warning! non-CM pictures )

I realize that A: these are not CMs (duh) and B:they are lowered.
But I'm wondering how that would look on a CM. I don't think we can run 15s, but I would love to see what a set of wide 16s with fat tires would look like.
There does not seem to be a very large selection of rims available for the CM, or maybe I'm just not looking in the right places.

I loved my FJ, I always wanted one, but once I had it I missed 'real driving'. The truck was super cool and practical, but not much fun to drive.
The Mini is a ton of fun to drive, especially with the 6 speed manual.. perma-grin!
What wheels did you find?

To maintain that look, it's primarily about keeping the sidewall to wheel diameter ratio. The sidewall of a 215/45r16 (shown in your first link, on 16 wheels) is 23.75% of the diameter of the wheel. The closest match for the stock 17" wheels on the R60 would be 225/45R17. For 18" wheels, the closest match would be 215/50R18 (not sure how common that size is, though). Both of those sizes should fit easily on stock suspension, should have any issues on a bit of drop, depending on width and offset. That guy's wheels are 8". So, in the interest of keeping the same appearance I'd imagine staying with an 8" wide wheel and 215 tire width would be the way to go. Otherwise, you may get a slightly more ballooned look that what he has. Something to keep in mind: You might have to sacrifice to a 45 or 55 aspect ratio, depending on availability.
Something important to keep in mind is that

Might check out some of the few that have put All-Terrains on...those are about as 'tall' (fat would insinuate wide) as you can go...Get 16's and then get the tallest, narrowest AT you can find to fit.
edit: 215/70/16 for example (not mine - jaridp's)

i am running mini oem euro 16 inch alloys on my 12 all4 ... 16 x 6.5 et 46, purchased from ecstuning ... they also have mini oem steelies in the same size
i run 205/70R16 winter tires on them that are 27.3 inch OD
for summer i run 225/50R18 (26.9 OD) vs the oem size 225/45R18 (25.9 OD)
215/75R16 will not fit on my car, but i have the factory sport suspension that id 10 mm lower than the standard suspension
215/70R16 do fit

Thank you. Typically they're made for BMW track oriented cars. I went outside the MINI norm and slapped them on. They're pretty wide but I made it work.
Yes, I'm running a M7 25mm RSB. It's pretty damn stiff.
