16" Steelies On a JCW Countryman
I have a 2014 Mini Countryman JCW and was looking at possible snow tire and rim options the other day when I stumbled onto this gem of a Countryman:

While I'm still not entirely sure if I'll run the car over the winter or not, I really like the idea of an AT on a 16" steel wheel like that. There's no way I'm fitting the 28.5" 225/70 R16 Baja TA's with my setup, but there's a few other AT's out there in the 26.1"-27" range that still might be feasible. There's also a guy I deal with all the time that does wheel fabrication, like re-centering rims to different offsets and lug patterns, etc. I would probably have him fab up some 16" rock rings to weld on to the outside of the steelie's so they look like mini beadlocks to really give it that off-road look.
However, my hopes and dreams were soon shattered when I saw that the steelies weren't compatible with my JCW's front brakes. Thinking it was due to the diameter, I looked at some BMW steel 17's that also happen to be 5 x 120 mm, only to see that those weren't recommended for performance brakes either. Even though it was most likely a reference to the specific BMW model, it made me wonder if the problem had more to do with the clearance from the faceplate than the actual diameter of the hub. I just called my local Mini dealership and the guy I talked to said he thinks that's the case as well, but he suggested calling back next week when their main parts guy was in just to confirm.
Is there anyone else that would have any info or feedback on that, or other suggestions for that matter? If it looks doable, it'll definitely be my next project.

I am running mini oem 16 inch alloy wheels with 205/70R16 dunlop grandtrek sj6 winter tires on my 12 all4
I got them from ecstuning.com ... they also stock the oem mini 16 inch steelies
I would check with them for fitment on your jcw, but I can tell you I have only about 1/8 inch clearance berween the top of the caliper and the rim on the alloys ... the steelie may be thinner than the alloy
