245/40R 18's Winter Tires

I just recently picked up a countryman S and am looking to put some winter tires on it. I have found a good deal on some Blizzak run flat 245/40R 18's and am hoping they will fit without rubbing. Does anyone have any experience with with 245's on their countryman? I have the sport suspension.... I'm not sure if this will have any adverse affect.

Sorry if this has already been posted. I am new to this forum and couldn't seem to find an answer to this particular question.

This is only my opinion but wide winter tyres like those won't clear water or snow as easily as narrower tyres will, they will be more effective than summer tyres of the same size but nowhere near as efficient or a safe as one of MINI's recommended fittings, i.e. 215-55 17's.

If you swap your summer and winter tyres on the same wheels each change of season you're going to run a higher risk of damaging the wheels than having a second set of rims.

I pick up a set of tires and rims 16" for my cm for winter with pot holes frost heaves and such rides so much better for winter driving and the cost was about the same as 17" snows with out rims and they are not run flats. I got them at town fair tire paid 1100 complete. The tires I got were winter claw extreme grip, they could have been studded but I didn't the size 205/60R16T. My mini is fwd and with those tires I don't have to worry if it snows the car still goes.
