I'm not angry, I'm just wondering what made you do it, it won't improve it's handling, it doesn't make it look any better, it won't make it work on rougher roads any better?

 

That's the beauty of personal preference. I think their CM looks fantastic, and it makes me that much more excited to lift my own.

listen... i don't have to explain myself to you or anyone else for that matter. I bought the wheels last summer and decided to go with a more off-road approach this year. I'm in the process of deciding which wheel/tire setup I like best for that application. There are several threads decicated to that interest of which have been substantial help to me. That's why I follow NAM's forum, not to make stupid comments about other owners cars. I like the way my CM looks. I thought others might like to see it too, get ideas from it, maybe help someone out with a question or two... I guess what I'm saying is: if you have something to contribute, do it, by all means contribute. Otherwise, keep it to yourself.

Agreed I think the car looks fantastic! I'm probably going with the same wheels but moving my Countryman in the opposite direction... Down an inch or two, rather than to lift it... Still it definitely looks MEAN and I can't wait to hear how it does off road

Rocker to ground is 11 1/8"

 

Finally got the car today! Wheels are 19x8.5 +42 with 245/40/19 Potenza RE760 tires. They fit perfect, no spacers required. Thank you to all the people who have posted pictures and specs of their wheel/tire sizes with offsets... all that info was helpful as I was researching what would fit and what wouldn't.

Will probably be putting on the NM springs as well.

 

Any rubbing issues?

 

Do you have better pics off the car? I have 235/35-19 and want to go to 245/40-19.
I'm in doubt about that because the car drives perfect now and i drive it really hard to.

 

No. Diameter wise, they're just slightly taller than stock so the tire tread protrudes just barely more than stock, just enough to correct the speedo error.

Width wise, they are 1" wider, but by decreasing the offset 10mm (about 1/2") then that means the inside clearance (distance to strut) was only decreased by 2.7mm, so basically no change there. They stick out 22.7mm more than stock, so now they're flush with the fender (but don't protrude!) instead of tucked inside.

And here is one where I stuck my arm inside the front wheel opening with my iPhone and snapped a photo so that I could see how much clearance there was between the tire and strut...



My wife is taking it to work (it's her car) but when she's off Thursday I'll try and get some decent photos, and then once I install the NM springs I'll take pics once again. I know your car is lowered, did you use NM springs, or something else? I looked at pics of your car quite a bit while I was researching wheels/tires.

Your tires are actually shorter than stock at 25.5" vs. 25.9" stock and the 245/40/19 is 26.7" so I would say to switch for sure next time you need tires.

Same wheels as MotoGreg (he convinced me) I have Continental All season DWS (225,40,R19) tires on them right now, it's possible I will get a set of performance tires if I find I'll be doing some track driving.

 

Hey, its all good, nobody else has to care if your car looks good, just you, its your car, lift it or drop it, its what you want. I personally wouldnt do a CM unless it looks like the CM WRC, thats my hero, but its all in tastes. When my kids grow some and dont fit the Clubbie anymore and hopefully my wallet grows commensurately, Im going to find out how much it costs to duplicate the CM WRC with rear sports seats, for the street. But thats just me. Take it or leave it, its all good.

how do you like the ride? compared to stk?
bouncy, softer, crashing, etc?

I've read that a few ppl said their NM spring felt a tad bouncy, while softer & more comfortable than the factory springs (w/ sport susp).

I had one off the first sets they made for the cooperS. At first i wasn't happy with them, to bouncy in the back but the adjusted (made new springs) them and now it's perfect!

 

Cool.. Do you take any 3-4 passengers with you? Hows the ride compare after passengers come in? Also do you bottom out with passengers?
