Anyone have the Magnaflow exhaust without the 2nd cat? Looking to see what my exhaust would sound like without the 2nd cat. I had this setup on my R53 but I am curious what it would sound like on the R60. I would like a little more sound but I am trying to figure out if I should loose the 2nd cat or get rid of the Magnaflow resonator.

I'm doing that setup with my magnaflow muffler next weekend with no 2nd cat and resonator. I will post a video afterwards.

Definitely ditch the 2nd cat instead of the resonator. The second cat is so restrictive. You'll get a lot more performance without it.

I'm selling my stock black wheels and tires if anyone is interested. All offers are welcome. I don't have room in my apartment to store them. Please email inclinelongboards@gmail.com

Yep. On a related note, I am going to take some sound clips of my exhaust soon to help people decide if they want to ditch the res and cat.

is it better to just get rid of the 2nd cat and keep the resonator? i don't want to fail any inspections or anything.

The resonator shouldn't have anything to do with an inspection.

I ditched both the resonator and 2nd cat and put a Magnaflow resonator in their place.

Only add a resonator if your going catless DP. I plan to add a high-flow or catless down the road. But the 2nd cat and resonator delete with the magnaflow muffler, sounds so mean:-).

This thread is missing a sound clip.
It would be interesting to hear the difference between 2nd cat delete with and without resonator.

Yeah, I bet it pops like crazy in sport mode! The JCW exhaust, which removes the resonator but keeps the 2nd cat, does that.

How about when sport mode is off? I know pop and burble is a function of the ECU, but I'm wondering whether removing the 2nd cat, along with the resonator, affected the sound in any way.

How's the sound in the cabin? Loud? Drone?

i installed a milltek DP back exhaust on my all4

it eliminates both the 2nd cat and resonator, only having a back muffler similar to the stock muffler

no drone at any speed/gear/rpm

it is slightly louder than stock at steady speed, much louder than stock at WOT, but not ricer loud or get-a-ticket loud

the mechanics at the dealer love it

it does not pop/burrble MORE than stock, but it is LOUDER when it does

no pop/burrble unless sport button = ON

Perfect. Thx for clarifying.

When people mod their exhaust and say that the car pops more, they actually mean that the pops are louder and more perceptible, not more frequent.

Hmm, the Milltek muffler is similar to OEM? One would think it'd be higher-flowing and louder than OEM.

it is similar in size and shape, but it weighs 1/4 or 1/3 of the oem muffler

you can see straight thru it

Does anyone have a part number for the magnaflow muffler used in their installs? Found a shop that will remove the second cat and resonator but I need to supply the muffler and tips. Thanks!

For the normal S / ALL4, you'd want to use the Magnaflow 10435 2.25" / 2.25".

Single in / single out. You don't want to use single in / dual out for anything under there. It won't fit, and unless you're doing something weird in the rear for a custom fab...

To replace the resonator section, use the 10435.

I just looked it up when I got home. That's a straight through. Do you mean use two of these on each outlet, or one with a Y-pipe out to the tips?

I see what you're asking now. There is no commercially available muffler to replace the factory setup. You will need to get creative to do something in the rear.

The only person that may be able to help you is Van @ VIP. He makes the rear mufflers custom for his DP407 systems.

If you don't get anywhere with that, you can always use the JCW aftermarket muffler. Let me know if you need the part number on that.

Now I'm really confused. Where would the muffler you linked go in the current setup, and how would the new setup with that muffler work out to the tips?

I mean I have a custom exhaust shop to do the work, but I think I need more info on how to get it done.
