Just bought a 2011 Mini Cooper a few months ago. 36000 miles. Immaculate. Had the complete maintenance records from the dealership. I read alot of horror stories on the internet about how unreliable mechanically they are, but went ahead and bought it anyway. Please tell me the Minis are just as reliable, for the most part as any other vehicle. Hope I won't regret the purchase. Are most all of you happy with your Minis? Thanks for your responses.

Welcome to the forum and to MINI ownership!

Regarding reliability from what I understand the Cooper is pretty rock solid. It's the Cooper S that has the bulk of the issues mainly being the turbo related issues with oil (leaking or cooking) and high pressure fuel pump. I'm not sure if the timing chain issue affects the Cooper...

That being said, we've had two Cooper S's, a 2009 and now a 2011. As far as I'm concerned there will always be a MINI in our garage, if not two when we can better afford it...
