SCCA Auto X events Nebraska 2008
I have started this sticky to use for all AutoX events for the 2008 season.
First event is on the 30th of March at MAC.
Good for me I just got a new Helmet and visor. Also, picked up a new video camera this year.
On another note I encourage any of you to join me in Hastings at MPH for the BMWCCA track event last weekend in April for some fine driving instruction.

What gives?
There was only one Mini at the autocross Sunday.
It isn't right to confine this spirited cars to just daily driving. You have to let them play.
If you have never tried it, you won't believe how much fun it is. If you have tried it, then you already know.
Hope to see more of you at the Lincoln Air Park on 4/13.

I'll be there NoSlack. Trying to get my nephew interested. And actually I was at the auto-x last Sunday. Well sort of - I took my nephew down to World of Wheels on Sunday and since it was well past registration time by the time we got out, we just parked on a lot just east (I believe) of the solo course. We saw you run at least once, I believe. 2007 S, right? It did seem like a rather cold day that started out relatively nice. What was the problem on the one side where the sweeping occurred? Did the asphalt start breaking up, or was there just a bunch of accumulated sand from winter?

There was some sand and small gravel on the course during the walks. I had hoped that by my second run the cars would have swept the line clear, but were just turning asphalt back into gravel. At one point they actually had to sweep because too many people were going sideways or spinning around. There are some interesting animated gifs posted on the NRSCCA forum that show workers scrambling to get out of the way of loose cars.
(It was the most exciting corner I have ever worked!) Logically I know that a car that sliding sideways is not going grip and suddenly start going forward. My brain was all good with that, my body couldn't get past the very large and loud object pointed at me and going fast (even if it was going sideways and not at me.)
Can't wait to see everyone in Lincoln.

I'll be there, with my new helmet that I can't wait to try out
As for the weather it's supposed to be 50 or so and partly cloudy. So it shouldn't be all that bad...just bring a warm coat and gloves maybe if the wind starts to kick up, when you're helping out with the cones.
Should be a good time though....Last I heard the BMW group will be there, and just make sure you bring your driver's license or they won't let you run.
Hope to see many of your there and don't worry we're not all that competitive.

Hey, where were all the BMW/Mini peeps? We only had a few out there today. Weather? It was rather cold in the morning. More wind than anything, but if that scared people away, I don't blame you. The first couple of hours was brutal.
But a great course all in all. 70-80 seconds, pretty long and plenty of challenging turns. Can't wait till next time!

I think the BMW folks are probably getting ready for MPH in 2 weeks. That is what I was doing yesterday and today. I serously thought about just making it out this morning but just could not justify driving to lincolin afterall I was just there yesterday and that was my 5th trip in a month. I think 6 would have been my breaking point.
I will be at one sometime in May so look for me then. The weather should be better by then.

Only 5 times!? C'mon now, you can do better than that!
I don't blame you one bit. 5 times is an awful lot.
You missed my 1st run. Mowed down 5 cones!! Worst I ever did. I don't hit cones that often, but that one run was enough to make up for a few events right there. I put fault on the "winter cobwebs". At least that's the best excuse I can come up with.
