Unfortunately I’m going to be out of town on the 30th – so I can’t hang with ya. However, I had my first service trip into MINI of Omaha, and was quite pleased. Kim had a nice loaner read for me when I got there, and my car was washed for me and ready to go by 1:00pm. Very impressed.

Hey did you guys talk about what everyone is doing for MINIs in the Mountians? I couldn't make it last Saturday, I had to work. I am all for driving with ya'll to CO. I really need to book a hotel still, dunno what I'm waiting for though. Anyway just curious to see what we're all doing.

I dont think we talked about it much or maby it was done before i got there.

I would assume we would want to leave omaha around 5 or 6 I would think the Flying J off the intersate by gretna would be a good place for the Omaha people to meet up then we could just hop on I-80 and go out to Minden

Hey all,
Getting closer to departure date. I am making this schedule of events so that we have something to go by.
Here is what I propose.
Omaha group leaves from the truck stop at Gretna at 6AM on the 9th early I know.
The following would be in that group:
Jpolson
nescooter
Monty12

Then if you guys would stop and pick up Rvan220 at Lincoln. I have stopped at the KING KONG Gyro place just off I-80 on N 27th Street to pick him up before. Let us know if this works for you Ryan. It would be around 7:00 I guess.

From there on to Minden Jpolson knows the way. Where JudeBennet and I will meet up with you. Then it is on Southwest to Colby, KS to meet up with the groups from KC and STL. ( I have to arrange that yet)

Again this can all change if you guys want to do something else.

Also, remember to get your 2-way family radio so that we can all talk on the way. MINI frequency is 7 sub 21 in case you did not know. These will come in handy on your drives in Colorado also.

If you have other ideas please post them here so that we can all get involved.
Thanks,
Jim

As far as the radios , you can find them pretty cheap, at like wal-mart, bass pro shops, I think in a cataloge I just delivered has some for about 30-40$ 18 mile range. they are all over the place I would guess you would want to get some with atleast 20 channels and subchannels. and a 10 mile range.

IMHO radios make the drives fun and lively

Anything Motorola makes is good. Stay away from the Cobra and Midland I have had both and went back to Motorola. Just my opinion after 2 years going to the Dragon and last year at MINIs in the Mountains and other group drives.
This is similar to what I have.

I am going to assume there is no problems with the plan.

I plan on being at the Flying J ( It is right across the Nebraska Crossing shopping center. the Interstate exit is 432 off I-80) around 5:45 and I think it would be good to be rolling out at 6:00 or very shortly after. My cell phone # is 402-319-2544 so if you might be a little late give me a call. I plan on packing up the cooper wed night so I dont have to do alot thursday morning. A tip for those who arent early birds.

cant wait to see you all again and cant wait for MITM

Okay, I may have to sleep in my car, but I will plan on being at the Flying J at 6:00--thanks for the cell phone number, just in case.

I ordered a set of radios on e-bay, so, I will have an extra if anyone needs one.

I will keep checking posts just in case there are any changes.

Thanks, Libby

I am bringing one of my dogs--he is the co-pilot--I got a special seatbelt for him for the trip.

Hey Guys its me Alex from Kansas and the guy your meeting up with in Colby. I am trying my hardest to get as many people that are intersecting with I-70 before Hays to meet me in Hays or meet me and all you guys in Colby to create one BIG MINI CARAVAN. I am so ready for this i can't concentrate at work and its to the point i am writing this to make sure everyone is excited as I am for MitM2. Where do we want to meet in Colby because i will be getting there between 11:30 and Noon.

Alex,
With me not all that familiar with the Colby area I am going to have to say some gas station off the interstate exit for hwy 24. I will be working on a list of phone #'s tonight and will PM all individuals on the list those #'s. That way we can keep in contact on the way. I will call you when we depart from Minden sometime around 9AM. Like you I am ready to go. I am on my lunch break so I have to answer this quick and get back to it. See you soon.

CORN - Might I suggest that if you are coming down on I-25 through Fort Collins, you go west out of Ft. Collins on US 287 and tale the Poudre Canyon turn off CO 14 and drive to Walden. It is a road that is in my top three here in Colorado. From Walden you can drive south down CO 125 thru Rand and down to US40. There you would go into Grandby and then Winter Park before going up and over Berthound Pass and into Empire which is on I-70 and about 50 miles East of Copper. CO 14, CO 125 & US 40 are all nice roads with little traffic and very nice twisties and excellent scenery.
I'm guess you will probably be coming down I-76 into Denver, but thought I would make the suggestion in case there are some that would like a funner route to Copper.
Enjoy you're drive and be safe - see y'all next week!

I had thought about that route. However, due to our plan to meet some of the folks from Kansas we will be going to I-70 and gathering more MINIs down South and proceed to Denver possibly catching the Western Dragon on the way up.
That said maybe on our way home we could take that way. Thanks for the suggestion.

Sadly, my wife and I will be returning to Omaha on the 9th from Denver - but I'm sure we'll pass everyone headed out to MITM. (and we'll be sure to wave)

Have a great time...maybe next year.

Yeah that sounds about right, that way we will get to Zaymfier probably around 9 ish then meet up with everone else around 11 to noon. I plan on getting there around 5:45 so I have time to gas up and and such. I think it would be good to leave at 6 or very shortly after.

BTW, Anyone bringing and brew?? I am bringing a 6 pack of Third Stone Brown from Empyrean brewery

Managed to get Thursday and Friday off.

Maggie and I are planning to catch you at the Flying J 0600 or Oh-my-goodness that's early.

We will be monitoring 7-21.

We will be wearing BRG with black roof and bonnet stripes.

See you there!
