The Best Sounding Cooper Ever

What would I have to do in order to get that title:nod:

ChrisW 12-05-2006 02:12 PM

Naw, thats too easy....

Unless of course the intake is of the individual throttle body type.

You would have MCSer's giving mad props too at that point.

Well obviously intake headers and exhaust, but what exhaust brings out the best of the Cooper. Some sound better than others, and I've heard some very good things about the Coopers sound and what its capable of.

I want to know more info about ITB's tho..

Jtrem 12-05-2006 04:41 PM

I have a MagnaFlow Exhaust and Im pleased with the tone.

I were interested how may I get my hands on something of this nature?

cal2112 12-05-2006 07:19 PM

I have a Remus exhaust and I really like the sound from that.

Custom, Exahust. HAI and you might be able to match the one car (happens to be a Cooper) that the only reason it doesn't sound better than an F430 or Enzo is because it isn't spinning over 8k RPM.

1SXE-MINI if you happen to have any sound clips, I think you carry the title for best sounding car out there:nod:

There is a difference between best sounding and loudest:nod:

I also understand beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

A pair of cherry bombs and an aftermarket header on a Cooper would also produce a nice tone.

Wow :eek2:, so its up there on the TOP 5 engine notes you've heard?

snid 12-06-2006 04:22 AM

Borla exhaust and a free-flowing intake like the pipercross viper. I've heard it in person and it sounds amazing. It might be a little too good, because unfortunately the car doesn't go as fast as it sounds. :)

Just the Borla without an intake sounds really good, and doesn't suffer the "more show than go" problem. But if you want the best sound, Borla and intake.

Wasn't there some exhaust shootout at the Dragon a few years back and people commented that the Borla / intake-ed Cooper was better sounding than any of the MCSes?

The JCW Sound Kit is pretty awesome sounding, too. That is if you've got the $$. Well worth it though.

That's the setup that I'm running and i love it. The borla is a great sound:thumbsup:

The MINITOR 12-06-2006 08:12 AM

I had an old MINIMania exhaust on my 02 Cooper, and it was BY FAR the best sounding exhaust I have ever heard on any MINI, Cooper or S. The tone was very low and grumbly, something that you would expect from a car with much more muscle - not a MINI. What I would give to get that sound to come out of MINITOR!

...and because it is not a v8 or v12, designed and built by Ferarri who possibly spends more time in tuning the exhaust sound, than it takes MINI to build 10,000 cars.

If I'm not mistaken, don't they have 2 different exhausts for the Cooper? If so, which one did you have?

Yes I really wish I had a clip to post for you. There isn't much of anyhting resembling highway drone but you certaily can here it coming. a Nice deep refined plently of full volume, I really couldn't find a single flaw in the engine note or tone it was pure bliss 1k-6k RPM in neautral and under load.

Greenstuff HAI and a local (Daytona) shops muffler and piping.

justintime 12-06-2006 03:35 PM

alittle off topic.. but has anyone changed the intake mani?
