Just replaced my 2005 5sp manual with 6sp

I know there are several threads on this subject replacing auto and Midlands - but a lot of questions about replacing the Getrag 5sp with a 6sp. Since I just completed this job- successfully ..😄- thought I would document the parts really needed. Replacement trans was from a 2005 S .

Parts needed were : trans, clutch and flywheel ( I used the Valeo replacement package ) , starter , right and left axles, shift cables ( not shifter) , upper trans mount (-both body and trans bracket) , clutch slave cyl with hydraulic line and bracket, stop light switch terminal , and shift ball. You must rework the bottom of the air box to clear the trans mount.

For significantly less than the cost of a rebuilt 5sp ( I spent about $1800- minus what I can sell of the 5sp parts ) - I now have a mini that shifts great, revs at 3k instead of 4K at 70mph , and hopefully has a bulletproof tranny  Took me about a month- most of the time spent researching and waiting for parts:mad:- should be about 3 days steady work , maybe less. So, if you do your own mechanical work, I can highly recommend it !!
