Highest mileage on a R56 Justa?

I have read a few posts that mention R56 MINI's that have mileages well over 100,000 miles. I would like hear from Justa owners with the very high mileages what problems they had and how they took care of their cars.

No high mileage 2nd generation Justa's?

Sorry, --- if my 2002 MINI Cooper is not an R56, I apologize for interrupting here.

But, I've never had to apologize for that car. It's been a joy to live with for 10 1/2 Years!
I'm waiting for it right now at Milwaukee's International MINI while they perform the routine 519,000 mile inspection. No problems no complaints, no questions - it's just time someone looks closely
at places this 87 year old doesn't go down to admire anymore. (Oh, Yeah - that muffler is original)

Thanks for the great reply, This is exactly the type of response I was looking for. There are so many threads pointing out the problems, we need some posts that point out something positive. I have read several posts showing the high mileage of some 1st generation MINI's. I am hoping that some of the 2nd generation owners that have higher mileages will also reply.

Just picked up an '07 with 83k on it. Hoping it treats me well, seems to run great so far. I'm a mechanic on the side, so it will get good maintenance and upkeep.

Molly turned over 60,000mi. today...this is the first time I've been happy that a car I have owned has had that many miles, I think because I've been :) the whole time and I've said many times "she's getting better with age!!"

Ive's Mini 05-17-2013 05:20 PM

My 08 Cooper is at 87000 and no issues to report. Reading the high mileage successes of so many has brought me the confidence of many more years with this one.

jmonga 06-19-2013 02:01 PM

I've got a 2012 Knightsbridge Edition Cooper which just crossed 43k KM. Running like a dream so far and I hope it continues like this :D

MiniVelvet 10-28-2013 06:51 PM

Mine was purchased new in 2011 and now has 58K miles. The horns turned into chew toys twice and were replaced under warranty. Otherwise no complaints.

Ive's Mini 10-28-2013 07:43 PM

At 96000 miles, no issues to speak of!

Sabini 10-30-2013 11:57 AM

my 2010 has just over 110000 and rapidly increasing!
The only repairs/issues so far: spark plugs changed @ 67000, one 02 sensor replaced @ 105000, just did timing chain tensioner bolt, oilfilter housing gasket replaced around 75000, and all 4 brakes replaced. Regular oil changes. No major issues. Best car I own so far!

MiniVelvet 10-30-2013 12:32 PM

Wow! Hats off to you! That is a lot even for work and pleasure combined. :)
When did you front and rear brakes go, respectively?

Sabini 10-30-2013 12:43 PM

front brakes I think were around 70k and rear were around 90k, I dont like to use the brakes! I replaced rotors also.

Molly will be turning over 70,000mi. tomorrow...what is quoted above still holds true!!
Just did her 5.5yr. Maintenance Service last weekend, Oil Change, Transmission Flush and Fill, didn't need much else, but did find a small coolant leak at the base of the Oil Stack.
Still runnin' strong and can still keep up with the "S"s in the PDX MINI Club!!

Ive's Mini 11-10-2013 09:48 AM

Mine has passed 96000 and still no issues. I am actually fixing the roadrash chips and going to replace the bonnet stripes with another set of OEM ones that I have in my possession. That makes it younger right?

MiniVelvet 11-11-2013 02:13 PM

Put another 2K in the past few weeks so it is now 60K+. Front brakes were replaced at around 45K, rear brakes around 58K. Oil pump solenoid, engine harness, and thermostat replaced today. :)

2007 Base 133,000

I am the second owner of a 2007 Mini with 133,000 miles. The previous owner put 100,000 on this as a saleman in 4 years. The timing chain was replaced at 129,000. That is the only thing besides brakes and tires. I use 10w40 Mobil in a hot climate. Runs like new but it does burn about a quart of oil every 3,000 and I need to check it monthly and top it off off to keep the motor lubricated properly. The long interval for oil changes by the dealer is the main problem in my opinion. People simply do not check their oil and it wears down the timing chain.

kyoo 11-13-2013 07:24 AM

^ interesting that your base cooper needed the timing chain, though it is high mileage. have you tried different oils, to see if it still burns those? mobil 10w40 is pretty thick, and even in hot weather, a cold start is still under operating temperature for oil, not to mention harder on the pump, etc. etc.

my old '08 base cooper had like 97k miles, no problems. my '13 cooper has about 450 miles, no problems either lol
