I noticed some of you were adding info about your modifications, so I thought I'd mention that I had the John Cooper Works Sound Kit installed earlier this year and love it.

I've got the Panther Lounge leather seats, Chrono Pack, Chrome Line interor, and am on the lookout for a JCW all-leather steering wheel (which are not available from MINI/BMw anymore).

More JCW coming in the future.

14 Inches in the Back

Ooh, lots of nice picts here

N2MINI, that was the color & the exact bonnet stripes I wanted before Butters found me. HAWT!

Anyway, I am not even close to done with Butters' makeover, but here he is with his newest accessory, two 7 inch monitors in the back.

(Sorry for the bad shot, there were only 2 that showed the monitors on my phone & this one was the best)
Attachment 174314

Here is my plan for his stripes...no photoshop, so I used MSPaint:mad: .

I want the stripes from ground-to-ground, bumper-to-bumper. Black on the yellow & yellow on the black...Paint can't process the colors correctly for some reason.

Attachment 174315

I am still searching for the exact match for fabric paint & a UV sealer...I WANT ROOF STRIPES ON MY CABRIO!

If anyone has time & a good photo editor, would you mind doing a mock on an actual pict of Butters? Thanks in advance & here's the best top down shot I have of him.

Attachment 174316

More shots in my gallery if anyone is interested...sorry for typing so much & thanks for looking.

When we have friends over before heading out (wherever that may be) we all try to take as few vehicles as possible...Butters is always the first car filled...we always have to turn someone away.

But they weren't installed for my friends, they were installed for my daughter who LOVES them...especially during the 120 mile trip we take almost weekly to go see family.

Not to derail, but what exhaust do you have? I like the tip and am in the market...

Darkness 09-16-2010 06:43 AM

Miltek. The tip fits nicely back there, which is one of the main reasons I went with it. The sound is also very nice too, especially when you remove the resonator

nopistons 09-16-2010 07:28 PM

Do you have any videos of the sound?

Darkness 09-17-2010 10:20 AM

I may be able to fish some older ones up but i'm not sure if they got lost when my laptop crashed years ago. Any of those sound clips would have been before the resonator was removed.

I may have some spare this time weekend and will see about recording some videos. Been wanting to for a while...

Darkness 09-18-2010 11:07 AM

Haven't found an exhaust video yet, but i did find some pictures with the completed black out!

And since we had a question about exhausts here is my magnaflow w/DDM intake at WOT with a 3 -> 4 shift at 6k+ rpm (get to ~110 before braking for turn 1) i do have other videos but they are sans the intake so sound different

Did that use to be one of the Red Bull minis? Looks just like one, minus the huge redbull can on the back and vinyl all over it

Yes, it's a former Red Bull MINI. I cut the can mounts from the back cover and roof and fiberglassed them in. I also removed the coolers from the back and fiberglassed in the cooler lids. In my opinion, makes for a nice little two seater with a decent sized trunk.

This is what I started with...

Attachment 174323

This is after finishing the fiberglassing and painting, still missing a couple of trim pieces and the LED third brakelight above the rear window...

Darkness 09-23-2010 01:18 PM

You did some great work to clean up the back where the coolers and mounts were! Did you consider making the back panel open up for easy access in the truck or was that not possible with the way it was?

512dart 09-23-2010 02:13 PM

It could be done, but with much difficulty and fabrication. Then I could not guarantee the weathertightness of the lid. I would rather have a smaller access with a weathertight lockable compartment, which I have now.
