No the heat shields do not go back on. The mounts for them are attached to the factory manifold. You'll also need an extension for both O2 harnesses.

 

Where can you find an extension for an R56? I can find the OEM wiring harness online but not just an extension that will fit. Or are they all universal? I'm just assuming they're not.

Nope I've been running catless for a for a few years now. One of the benefits of the MINI being registered in South Carolina. I did recently weld in a 22" resonator to get rid of the buzz at around 3500rpm.

 

You can save your money and simply extend the wires yourself(there's five on the precat and four on the post)so it will take some time. Just a heads up though the clearance between the first sensor bung on the header and the tranny case is VERY tight. I trashed my sensor from it rubbing after 3 days and they cost over $200 each.

You will get a P0420 code with the header. These cars are not easily fooled when it comes to emissions.

First I tried the usual double spark plug non fouler's which got rid of the P0240 but gave me a P1036. So I removed one non fouler but it still threw another P1036.

Finally I started over with a new non fouler and only drilled out enough so that just the tip of the sensor(theres one tiny hole on the tip and several on the sides) was exposed and I haven't thrown any codes since.

 

So, this is my Mod I did to my 2009 NON S Mini

R56 Cooper S Spoiler, Nice and Simple but effective.





Next on my list of things is Changing out my gas cap to the Cooper S one. Should get that done next weekend!

On the wishlist... JCW front grill, but still trying to talk the wife into that! As she really likes the front all chromed up as it is!

If you still have the stock second cat and/or resonator it should sound great. I had removed mine a while ago and needed something to reduce the rasp. If you still want a resonator this is the one I'm using.

 

Fatman can you make a short clip that we can hear the mod you have done?

It is the MCS spoiler, but it did come off of a JCW.

 

I thought you were running the DDM intake. Did you change it and if so, WHY?

Because my intake showed same numbers as the DDM One they just used my car as a test car

 

Sorry no sound clip now im not happy with the sound. I plan a JCW rear silencer and a new resonator soon.
