What is this?

Help. Does anyone know what this thing is? Other than the electrical connections, it doesn’t seem connected to anything else. I would really appreciate any info.

Thank you. It is odd because I do have a washer pump attached to the windshield washer reservoir and it works. This is why this puzzles me so.

that's my read ..... the links I hung mention the 'stop diesel' point a few times. Note they are from cars that were sold in the US in the 70/80 like Triumph

I suspect this was an attempt to compensate for 'low octane gas' once lead was tossed out as an additive in the US.

Not listed in Mini parts as the car was not imported to the US at the time .... but Trium' and MG were .....

side bar .....

my 79 started dieseling (aka run on) the first time I tried 'mid grade octane' ...... (many years ago)

IF you understand what causes 'run on' or dieseling ... and what OCTANE means .... you'll understand

drained the tank, filled with premium and problem GONE
