Battery specs for an 87

I don't drive my Classic over the winter, so I hooked it up to a battery tender like I usually do while it was off the road. Well, this past November the battery exploded so I don't have the old one for reference. What are the proper specs for a replacement battery? Could I substitute the battery from my 2002 MINI? Thanks in advance.

The only specs I've found in Haynes and owner's manuals only mention a minimum of amp's required

As long as you get 12 volts, you can't have too much battery so far as AMPs ... and a Mini doesn't require much.

battery size (group) covers physical size.

I measured the battery box and got the largest thing that was a comfortable fit!

I put in a Duralast Gold 25-DLG last year replacing an OPTIMA.

640 cold amps

96 month warranty, 3 year free replacement

$120

Thanks, Captain! Since I don't drive it that often, I may just switch out the battery from my other MINI. Thanks for the info and the link!
