be wise when you talk to them to book it. It has been several years but when I was buying my 79 and looking into ways to get it from Florida to Virginia I discovered that U-Haul asked some questions about how you intended to use their product and

1. Would not rent a flat bed utility trailer to carry a vehicle. (esp will not rent an enclosed trailer or truck to haul a vehicle)

2. Would not rent an auto trailer to haul a Mini because of clearance issues (you can do it but may need to put wood planks in the tire rails to avoid bottoming out the suspension) My 79 has 4 inches of clearance..

3. Would not rent a 'carrier' - one of those front end dolly things - for a Mini due to clearance concerns.

I know a guy who hauled a Mini inside a u-haul panel truck and others who used their large utility trailers . . . maybe they just didn't tell u-haul what they planned to load? Now I know .. .

(btw, if wondering, I brought my 79 to VA via the AutoTrain and that was an experience on its own. A similar experience <too similar> is decribed here <better then I can> http://tinotopia.com/things/cars/austin_intro.htm imho very and 90% what happened to me)

from personal experience, yes you can. I hauled a morris countryman on a utility trailer with no problems. It was great. We lifted the front on, lifted the rear and rolled it in. Just strap it down real good. It was a personal trailer, so we didn't have to worry about u-haul. Capt. bj is right, just lie about what you are hauling. U-haul sucks.

I just hauled my new-to-me '64 Cooper home on a U-Haul tandem axle trailer. It fit just fine. I tied the front down using the provided tire straps and secured the rear by threading tie-down straps through the rear wheels. Worked perfect.

U-Haul will ask you what you intend to haul. As a Mini is not listed in their book, tell them your hauling an old Volkswagen. My U-Haul experience was flawless from beginning to end.

Check out the picture in my post under Prove you have a Classic Mini.

I really dont see why you wouldnt be able to? Worst case scenario you would need to get creative with the loading and unloading but I have seen much bigger and also much lower vehicles in uhaul trailers before. I moved across country and trailed my old Evo X behind my budget rental truck with one of their trailers. I did have to remove some extra guards on the front of the trailer to clear the front bumper but nothing that would have caused a safety issue, and I just reinstalled them when I got where I needed to get.

Yes. You'll need 2 10x2, 4 tie down straps.
It's a drop down gate on the back. They call it a gravel trailer. Tell them your hauling mulch.

That fits alot better then the one I used to carry my most recent purchase... U-haul does do those trailers with ramps. It has a 2110 pound capacity which should be adequate for any mini.

I am however cheap...

The ramp is very short, that why I bought 2 2x10's to use as ramps.

BUT it will likely scrape on the back of the inside bed rails. We used blocks to clear, but still managed to bend the floor a bit.

DO NOT put a car cover on to protect the Mini. It will flap about & ruin your paint!

Trailered great, we had a bunch of folks taking pics with their phones!

Do you have drums or disc brakes. Difference in spacing....could be an issue.

It will be tight in the middle if you have standard drum brakes, but it will fit. They didn't have a classic Mini in their database so I told them a fiat 500......go figure!!
