Registering 1990's mini in CT?

Hey all

Does anyone know if there is a legal way to register a non-RE-vinned (but titled and registered in another state) mini in CT? Are there any issues with it?

Being that it has a VIN and active inspection from NY, I would think it could be registered, but it falls below the 25 years for emissions testing, and makes me worry someone is going to want to crush it!

See if they answer the phone...

heh, well, DMV isn't open mondays, but I don't know if I want to poke around in the lion's den at this time.

Do you have a yearly state inspection? Does it apply to this car's year?

If so I'd be worried about doing this.

Do you have a way to register it in a state that doesn't do a yearly inspection (son or daughter's house, for example?) Sell it to them for $1, let them register it and keep it at your house for when they visit. Just be sure you're allowed to drive it...

I know these 90's era cars ARE coming into the states, but I'll bet most of them are in states with less stringent DMV rules.

There is no inspection in CT, just emissions and cars over 25 years are exempt IIRC.

Forgot about DMV on Mondays. Just call, they don't know/care who is on the phone...if you can't find info here. I would think the answer is yes, except I never heard of a car without a VIN, so what do I know.

You should contact "BLUE JCW" on www.nemini.org. He went through an absolute nightmare registering his classic 'Gazoo' in CT. There is a thread on that site about it...
